At 8:30 p.m. on August 23, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team began their journey at the world championship with the opening match against Poland. Against a very strong opponent ranked 3rd in the world, the goal of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team is to learn and compete, but will certainly also play to the best of their ability.

In recent training sessions, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet has continuously experimented with the opposite position after Bich Tuyen left the team. First, the strategist born in 1976 used Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, then Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.

Regarding Thanh Thuy, the captain of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has high expectations. He said: "Previously, Thanh Thuy played the opposite position. We calculate each specific match, we can put Thuy in the above position but it depends on the professional situation."

In the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, Hoang Kieu Trinh is an athlete who plays in the opposite position. However, facing opponents with different playing styles, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and the coaching staff must prepare many options.

According to experts' predictions, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy will be a flexible athlete in the main attack and opposite set positions. In case "4T" plays the main attack, the opposite set role will belong to Vi Thi Nhu Quynh.

The middle blockers include: Nguyen Thi Trinh, Bich Thuy. Lam Oanh plays in her familiar setter position, while the Libero is Khanh Dang.

This is considered the optimal lineup of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at the moment, however, depending on the developments and performances of the athletes on the field, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet will make necessary changes to preserve the strength of the pillars, focusing all his strength to defeat Kenya - a "well-matched" team in Group G.
