Innovation in the LNG thermal power industry value chain

The National Innovation Center in collaboration with SK Group organized the Innovation Workshop in the value chain of the liquefied natural gas thermal power industry.

The event was held on May 21 within the framework of the program "Cooperation to share solutions for future industries".

Speaking at the program, Mr. Do Tien Thinh, Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC - under the Ministry of Finance ) commented: "In the context of Vietnam facing increasing demand for electricity consumption and the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions according to the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050, liquefied natural gas (LNG) is being oriented as an important transitional energy source.

The workshop contributes to clarifying the role of LNG in the 8th Power Plan, introducing advanced technological solutions in the LNG industry, connecting Vietnamese and Korean enterprises in the LNG value chain, and discussing international practices in investment and contract models, towards sustainable and effective development of this field in Vietnam," Mr. Do Tien Thinh affirmed.

In this cooperation program, NIC plays the role of a connecting point between state management agencies, researchers and businesses in promoting innovation in the LNG industry value chain in Vietnam.

NIC focuses on building a clean energy ecosystem through organizing knowledge sharing activities, connecting experts, businesses and international partners, to promote information exchange, update new trends in the industry and promote extensive cooperation between parties, contributing to the implementation of the Government's commitment to energy transition and sustainable development.

SK Group (Korea), with comprehensive strengths in the new energy and LNG value chain, plays the role of a strategic partner in sharing experience, transferring technology and introducing international implementation models in the LNG industry.

Through the workshop and cooperation program, SK hopes to expand investment in Vietnam, and accompany Vietnam in the energy transition journey towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
