Innovation and enhancement of the Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture"

The third National Press Award “For the Development of Vietnamese Culture” has been renewed and upgraded, expanding the field compared to the previous two seasons. The time for receiving works and awarding prizes has also changed compared to the original plan.

This was affirmed by Mr. Nguyen Anh Vu, Editor-in-Chief of Culture Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the third National Press Award "For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture", at a press conference on July 24 in Hanoi .

Previously, the National Press Award “For the cause of developing Vietnamese Culture” was called the National Press Award “For the cause of developing Culture, Sports and Tourism”. If in previous seasons, the Organizing Committee considered the awards in the fields of culture, family, sports and tourism, this year it also considered the field of information. The reason is that after the merger and streamlining of the apparatus, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) received a number of additional fields, including press and publishing management. This year's season also postponed the deadline for receiving entries and the award ceremony later than last year.

Journalist Nguyen Anh Vu, Editor-in-Chief of Culture Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, spoke to the press at the press conference.

Currently, the Organizing Committee plans to have the deadline for receiving entries be July 31. However, according to the proposal of reporters attending the press conference, the Culture Newspaper will propose to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue adjusting in the direction of continuing to extend the deadline for receiving entries.

The third National Press Award “For the cause of developing Vietnamese culture” was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The award is for authors who are Vietnamese citizens at home and abroad whose press works on culture, information, family, sports and tourism are published and broadcast on licensed press agencies (printed newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio newspapers, television newspapers, photo newspapers) within the prescribed time.

Foreign authors whose press works (written in Vietnamese) comply with the regulations of the contest are entitled to submit entries to the contest. Each press work can be published or broadcast in no more than 5 issues. The Organizing Committee does not limit the number of entries from each author.

The award is selected and awarded to authors or groups of authors, excellent journalistic works, reflecting on real people, real events, with discovery, accurate and timely reflection on collectives, individuals, positive actions, typical advances, criticizing bad habits and vices in society... with one of the following key contents:

The implementation of the 13th Party Congress Documents into life, Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress; the realization of Directives and Resolutions of the Central Committee and Party Committees at all levels; the role and importance of culture for the country's socio-economic development. The guiding articles of the Party and State leaders are associated with the innovation and efforts of the Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism sector, accelerating, breaking through, and together with the whole country, firmly entering the era of national development.

Anniversaries, major holidays, key events of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, outstanding cultural, information, family, physical education, sports and tourism events nationwide. Work on building and perfecting institutions, mechanisms and policies in the direction of "creating" and "unleashing" resources for the development of culture, sports and tourism. Building Vietnamese people in the period of innovation, development and integration with appropriate standard values, associated with preserving and promoting Vietnamese family values, cultural value systems, and national values. Comprehensive and synchronous development of cultural fields, cultural environment, cultural life, etc.

The Organizing Committee also considered awards for press works with the responsibility of spreading messages about the era of national development; digital transformation of press; celebrating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (1925-2025); building a healthy cultural environment in cyberspace. Works about achievements and lessons of Vietnamese sports; outstanding marks of Vietnamese tourism; improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism, developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector; education work, building family culture in modern times.

Notably, the Organizing Committee encourages works that clearly state the current situation of mechanisms and policies in the fields of culture, information, family, sports, tourism and solutions for improvement. Point out difficulties, obstacles and shortcomings, thereby proposing innovative solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of consulting, state management and organizing activities to develop culture, information, sports and tourism from the central to local levels.
