Braving the rain and flood to search for missing victims in Hue

On the evening of September 27, the People's Committee of An Cuu Ward (Hue City) said that authorities were urgently searching for a woman who went missing amid the raging floodwaters.

At about 3:00 p.m. the same day, Mr. Nguyen Duy H. (born in 1985) and his wife, Ms. Duong Thi H. (born in 1990, from Thanh Hoa ; currently renting a room in lane 46, Nguyen Duc Canh street, An Cuu ward) walked to the bus station to return home.

When she reached the rice field at the beginning of lane 46 of Nguyen Duc Canh street, Ms. H. slipped and fell and was swept away by the water.

At around 6 p.m., Mr. Duy H. was able to contact the authorities for assistance in the search. Currently, the Fire Police and Rescue Force, An Cuu Ward Police are searching for Ms. H.

The husband was taken safely to An Cuu Ward Police Station.

Emergency evacuation of students and residents on Nguyen Huu Canh Street, Hue City

That same evening, many streets in the center of Hue City such as Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Lanh, Vu Thang… were flooded 30-40cm deep. Many motorbikes and cars were flooded and stalled when passing through these streets.

Meanwhile, many student dormitories in the Nguyen Huu Canh street area (An Cuu ward, Hue city) were heavily flooded, and authorities had to wade through water and use rubber boats to get into deeply flooded areas to bring students and residents to safety.

Major Nguyen Tan Phuoc, Chief of An Cuu Ward Police, said that the ward's police and militia forces are continuing to make efforts to inspect and visit flooded households to assist and evacuate people safely.
