Vietnamese Futsal has no way back.
The Vietnamese futsal team had a forgettable start at the SEA Games 33, losing 2-4 to Malaysia in their opening match (December 16).
Nguyen Da Hai opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, but mistakes by goalkeeper Pham Van Tu and wasted opportunities led to a heavy defeat for coach Diego Giustozzi's team.
The four goals conceded against Malaysia (a team that is not a championship contender) were a "cold shower" for the Vietnamese futsal team.

The men's futsal tournament at the 33rd SEA Games features five participating teams: Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Myanmar. The teams compete in a single round-robin format, with the best-performing team winning the gold medal. Therefore, the defeat against Malaysia significantly narrows Vietnam's chances of winning. In the remaining matches, Thailand demonstrated absolute dominance by defeating Malaysia (7-1) and Myanmar (3-0). Indonesia also won against Myanmar convincingly with a 5-1 score. Thailand currently leads the group with 6 points after two matches, followed by Indonesia with 3 points after one match. Vietnam is in fourth place with 0 points after one match.
In the crucial match against Indonesia at 4 PM today (December 17th), Vietnam must secure 3 points to continue competing with Thailand and Indonesia. Coach Giustozzi's players need to fine-tune their finishing and tighten defensive discipline to avoid conceding regrettable goals like those in their opening match.
Only by overcoming this crucial match can the Vietnamese futsal team regain its prestige. Indonesia is very strong, but Nguyen Thinh Phat and his teammates must find a way to overcome them.
