Vietnam women's team wins 6-0 against UAE in Asian qualifiers

On the evening of July 2, at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho province), the Vietnamese women's football team had a favorable start with a 7-0 victory over the UAE, in the second match of the 2026 Asian qualifiers.

Compared to the opening match against Maldives, coach Mai Duc Chung made 6 changes in the match against UAE. The Vietnamese women's team fielded their strongest lineup with the return of captain Huynh Nhu, center back Chuong Thi Kieu as well as number 1 goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh.

Facing an opponent that was considered much weaker, the Vietnamese women's team easily dominated from the first minutes of the match. After many missed opportunities, in the 11th minute, Ngan Thi Van Su had a cross from a corner kick. Chuong Thi Kieu, unmarked, easily headed the ball home.

Just 4 minutes later, the UAE defense made a serious mistake, allowing Thai Thi Thao to easily score into an empty net, raising the score to 2-0. Before the first half ended, Thu Thao dribbled solo on the right wing before crossing the ball accurately for Nguyen Thi Van to cut in and head the ball to increase the score to 3-0.

Right at the beginning of the second half, Nguyen Thi Van completed her double with a delicate one-touch shot in the penalty area. The Vietnamese women's team then made many substitutions. Notably, captain Huynh Nhu continued to have a lackluster day and was substituted in the 62nd minute.

During the remaining time of the match, the situation did not change, the Vietnamese women's team continued to dominate despite many substitutions and scored 2 more goals. Winning 6-0 against UAE, coach Mai Duc Chung's team continued to lead Group E of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers with 6 points, 2 points more than Guam in second place. This is also the opponent of the Vietnamese women's team in the final match.
