In the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup, the Philippines will face Vietnam's first opponent on November 16 at the Rizal Memorial artificial turf field in Manila. Of course, the home team is determined to win this match.
The German coach said: "Facing the Vietnamese team is a big match for the Philippines. We know they are a tough opponent but we still want to do something.
The whole team will show a modern style of play to win against the Vietnamese team. We don't want to just rely on defense and limit goals conceded, but can completely attack."

Coach Michael Weiss will announce a list of 26 players in the coming time, before narrowing it down to 23. They will start training in Manila on November 12. The German coach is confident in the squad he has.
"We will be in Manila and shoulder a big responsibility. I hope the players can do something. I will prepare a big feast for the fans," added the Philippines head coach.
Having to compete on the Rizal Memorial artificial turf field is a big disadvantage for the Vietnamese team.
Coach Troussier’s players are used to playing on natural grass and have had to adapt to the new playing conditions in just a few days. Not only that, the host team Philippines is also calling on fans to fill the stadium to cheer on their team.
Coach Michael Weiss said: "Fans play an important role behind the team's success. The Azkals (nickname of the Philippines team) will enter a historic World Cup qualifier.
I want the players to feel the support from the fans. We want fans to fill the Rizal Memorial Stadium to give the team strength."
