Vietnam team doesn't have much time left

After the draw with India on the evening of October 12, the Vietnamese team will not have any more international friendly matches before the AFF Cup at the end of this year.

The 2024 AFF Cup will officially kick off on December 8, but it will not be until December 9 that the Vietnamese team will have their first match because they are in Group B. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will travel to the Laos National Stadium. After that, the whole team will return home to welcome the Indonesian team at My Dinh Stadium. This match will take place on December 15. Three days later, the Vietnamese team will play at the Philippines' stadium and play their final group stage match against the Myanmar team on December 21 under the cheers of home fans.

If Vietnam qualify for the semi-finals as the Group B winners, they will face the Group A runners-up on December 27 in the first leg. The first leg of the semi-final between the Group A winners and Group B runners-up will take place a day earlier. The second leg of the semi-final will take place three days after the first leg. The two finals will take place on January 2 and January 5, 2025, respectively.

Hoang Duc and his teammates will not have any more international matches before the AFF Cup 2024.

From now until the 2024 AFF Cup, the Vietnamese team has no more international friendly matches scheduled. The 1-1 draw with the Indian team is considered the final test for coach Kim Sang-sik's players. After this match, the players will return to their clubs to prepare for the National Cup and V-League, the first division of the 2024-2025 season.

After round 9 of the V-League and round 5 of the first division (taking place on November 19 and 20), the Vietnamese team will gather again. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his students have nearly 20 days to prepare the final steps for the AFF Cup 2024. This is enough time for the Korean strategist to evaluate, screen personnel as well as perfect the playing style. Currently, Mr. Kim is also considering the option of switching to the traditional 4-defender tactical formation.
