Mr. Vi Van Quy's family used to be one of the households with difficult circumstances in Tram Hoc village, Chieng On commune, Yen Chau district. Since 2017, with the support of local authorities and officers of Chieng On Border Post, who have been propagandizing, mobilizing, helping with working days, and guiding on techniques for planting and caring for crops and livestock, Mr. Quy's family has actively converted, raised livestock and grown crops to develop the economy . Up to now, Mr. Quy's family has planted over 300 plum trees, earning over 120 million VND per year.
Mr. Vi Van Quy, Tram Hoc village, Chieng On commune, Yen Chau district, Son La province: Every year, we harvest a large amount of plum trees, so our family still asks the soldiers to come and help us transport and sell them. Every year, my family harvests more than 20 tons, so they still create favorable conditions for our family. I am very grateful to the soldiers for regularly helping my family and people consume plum products.
Chieng On is a border commune of Yen Chau district. The lives of the people here are still very difficult. The whole commune still has nearly 1,300 poor households. In recent years, Chieng On Border Guard Station, together with local Party committees and authorities, has propagated, mobilized, and guided people to change the structure of crops and livestock and apply science and technology to production, gradually changing people's thinking, helping them to escape poverty.
Mr. Vi Van Suong, Head of Tram Hoc village, Chieng On commune, Yen Chau district, Son La province: In the process of economic development and poverty reduction, the base has often received attention from the leaders of Chieng On border post. We have participated in propaganda sessions on techniques and conversion of crop and livestock structure, especially in our area, we are currently building a plum growing model, and some poor families have escaped poverty and have a happier and more prosperous life. In the past year, thanks to the attention of the station leaders, the village has eliminated a temporary house, which was especially difficult, helping the family escape poverty and have a decent house, and a more secure life.
With the motto of “three sticking together, four together”, the Chieng On Border Guard also implemented many projects, models, and creative and effective ways of doing things. Thanks to socialized resources and contributions from officers and soldiers of the Chieng On Border Guard Station, thatched houses and mud walls have gradually been replaced by spacious wooden houses like this one.
Mr. Vi Van Truong, Tram Hoc village, Chieng On commune, Yen Chau district, Son La province: Before, our family was in a difficult situation. With the support and help of the border guards, they built this house for us. We also received support with plant seeds, so now our life is much more stable.
Not only do they play a good role in protecting the border and the country, but the border guards of Chieng On Border Post also always accompany the people in the border areas to develop the economy and society, build new rural areas, and improve their lives. This is one of the important and meaningful tasks of the Border Guard in the new era.
Major Do Van Nghiep, Deputy Political Commissar of Chieng On Border Post, Yen Chau District, Son La Province: In recent times, Chieng On Border Post has coordinated with local authorities and agencies to effectively implement programs to help people develop their economy. The project models that the unit has coordinated to implement include: implementing a construction support program for people, a tree planting program on sloping land and activities to help people. Consulting on science and technology in coordination with local agencies to organize propaganda for people about the effectiveness of new economic production models, especially in the production of plum trees in the area. Over time, the assessment of the implementation results has brought about very positive results, especially in helping people improve their lives as well as eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, the rate of poor households has been decreasing year by year.
Thanks to the help of local authorities and the Border Guard, the lives of the people in the border commune of Chieng On are changing day by day. This will be the premise for implementing and replicating many effective economic development models suitable for the locality, contributing to ensuring the lives of the people and contributing to building an increasingly prosperous border commune.
