In 1972, in the face of the rapid development of our army and people across the Southern battlefield, and in order to have a strong, mobile, combat-ready main force unit, the Ministry of National Defense decided to establish the 341st Division (Song Lam Division) in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province.

According to mission requirements, from November 1972 to February 1975, the division was stationed in Quang Binh province and Vinh Linh special zone, with the mission of building units, training, combat readiness and being the strategic reserve force of the Ministry of National Defense. In the land on both banks of Kien Giang, the Party Committee and the people of the old My Thuy commune accompanied, protected and sheltered the soldiers of Division 341 from the early days of its establishment until they went to the South to fight.

Here, on February 3, 1975, the 341st Division held a ceremony to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Party's founding, and solemnly held a ceremony to send troops to the Southern battlefield, witnessed by senior generals of the Army. This was an important historical event, marking the division's official departure to the Southern battlefield, where it fought and won glorious victories from Dau Tieng, Chon Thanh to Xuan Loc, Trang Bom; participating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, contributing to the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

Since then, more than 50 years have passed, the heroic Song Lam 341st Division has opened its history with many outstanding achievements on all fronts: Unit building, fighting, military management, economic development, fighting to protect the southwestern border and performing international missions in Cambodia.

With outstanding achievements in unit building and especially excellent feats in combat, the division was twice awarded the title of Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State and many other noble awards...

To commemorate the years of living and fighting in the fiery land of Quang Binh and to show gratitude and remember the soldiers of the division who sacrificed their lives in the war, the Commander of Division 341 and the Standing Committee of the Division 341 Veterans Liaison Committee decided to build a memorial stele "Where Division 341 held a ceremony to send troops to the Southern battlefield, February 3, 1975" in My Ha village, My Thuy commune, Le Thuy district (now Tan My commune, Quang Tri province).

The stele house project is built on an area of 1,000m2 ; the stele house has a floor area of 64m2 ; the area around the stele house is planted with meaningful green trees... with a total cost of over 5 billion VND from socialized sources.
On June 27, 2025, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province (now Quang Tri province) issued Decision No. 2381/QD-UBND, ranking the relic "Where Division 341 held a ceremony to send troops to the Southern battlefield, February 3, 1975" as a provincial-level historical relic.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Tan emphasized: The relic will be a destination, a "red address", a place to preserve and pass on heroic memories, educate traditions for today's and future generations, and at the same time be a place for officers, soldiers, and war veterans of the division to visit and show gratitude to their comrades...
To promote the historical and cultural values of the historical relic, it is recommended that the People's Committee of Tan My commune promptly establish a management board for the relic site, carry out management according to the approved tasks and regulations of the Law on Cultural Heritage, along with the system of related laws; regularly inspect the architectural parts of the project, promptly maintain if there is any deterioration; annually coordinate with Division 341 to plant more flowers, ornamental plants, and shade trees to create a landscape for the project... At the same time, promote the intangible cultural values, traditions of the locality and of Division 341 so that each Quang Tri resident, veterans of Division 341 as well as visitors from all over the world actively protect and promote the historical and cultural values of the relic.
