Join hands to build new countryside, civilized urban areas, and economic development
In recent years, in all three provinces of Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh , Ha Nam (old) and Ninh Binh (new), together with all classes of people, religious followers have actively participated in the movement to build new rural areas (NTM) and civilized urban areas. In parishes, churches, places of worship... religious dignitaries and officials have taken the lead in implementing and mobilizing parishioners and followers to voluntarily donate land, contribute working days and funds to build roads, cultural houses, schools and charity houses.
During the 2021-2025 period, the Fatherland Front and its member organizations mobilized people to donate over 1.5 million square meters of land; relocate and demolish about 650 houses, more than 2,400 fences, gates, yards, etc., worth more than 90 billion VND; donate more than 640 billion VND and more than 590,000 working days, equivalent to about 202 billion VND to build new rural roads and public works.
Typically, in the communes of Kim Son, Phat Diem, Chat Binh, Dinh Hoa, Binh Minh, with more than 40% of the population being parishioners, the movement "Peaceful parishes and parishes, joining hands to build new rural areas" has been widely deployed. In the period of 2020-2024 alone, Kim Son parishioners donated tens of thousands of square meters of land, contributed billions of VND, tens of thousands of working days to build roads and canals in the fields, contributing to bringing Kim Son district (old) to the advanced new rural finish line...
In Nam Dinh province (old), many localities with a large number of Catholics such as Xuan Truong, Hai Xuan, Hai Quang, Hai Tien, Hai Thinh, Ninh Giang, Co Le... are bright spots with models of "Safe, bright - green - clean - beautiful parishes", creating a new look for the countryside.
Along with building the new rural areas, religious people are also pioneers in economic development, starting businesses, creating jobs and income for people. Enterprises and production and business establishments owned by parishioners have become the spearhead in economic development in many localities. Typical examples include: Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, 65 years old, in hamlet 2 of Xuan Chau, Xuan Hong commune, with a cage fish farming model on the Red River, with an income of 1.2-2 billion VND/year, creating stable jobs for 6 workers; Mr. Luong Xuan Nghia, 56 years old, owner of Nghia Huong Fine Arts Stone in Xuan Thanh village, Nam Hoa Lu ward, with an income of 6 billion VND in the past 4 years, creating stable jobs for 10 workers, passing on the profession to 20 households; Ms. Nguyen Thi Nghia, 45 years old, Binh Son commune, established Duc Dung Company Limited in 2010, creating jobs and stable income for 20 workers... Many Catholic businessmen boldly invested in opening garment factories, mechanical facilities, and construction material production, creating jobs for thousands of workers.
Some monks, nuns and Buddhists have initiated organic agricultural production models, linking up to grow clean vegetables and medicinal herbs, not only increasing income but also ensuring community health. Many Catholic and Buddhist families are at the forefront of large-scale livestock and aquaculture movements, applying high technology, creating on-site jobs for rural workers... The spirit of solidarity in helping each other develop the local economy has truly become a widespread emulation movement, affirming the role of religious compatriots in socio-economic development.
Spread humanitarian and charitable activities, ensure social security
A bright spot in the patriotic emulation movement of religious people is the active response to humanitarian and charitable activities. In particular, the movement "Catholics doing good deeds" is maintained regularly, with hundreds of gifts and charity houses being given away each year; pagodas actively organize medical examinations, provide free medicine, donate to build schools, support victims of natural disasters and floods. Many pagodas, parishes, and congregations regularly organize charity kitchens, give free meals to poor patients at hospitals; give gifts to poor households, students in difficult circumstances, and orphans. In particular, the movement of donating corneas to bring light to the visually impaired has become a profound humane beauty...
Responding to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind" and the Campaign "Day for the Poor", people of all walks of life, including religious followers, have promoted the spirit of mutual love and mutual assistance, contributing to creating more resources to support poor households and people affected by natural disasters and epidemics to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives; supporting the construction and repair of Great Solidarity houses for the poor.
Over the past 5 years, the work of mobilizing and receiving support for the Funds managed by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of the provinces of Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh (old) has been effectively implemented. After the merger and consolidation of the provinces, the Gratitude and Social Security Fund of Ninh Binh province (new) has received over 21 billion VND; the "For the Poor" Fund has received nearly 9 billion VND; the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Fund has received nearly 50.5 billion VND; the Flood and Storm Fund (Yagi) has received nearly 63 billion VND; the Island Fund, the Flood and Storm Fund of the Central and Central Highlands have received 10 billion VND. From these funds, 1,426,683 Tet gifts, worth over 981 billion VND, have been given to the poor; social security activities worth over 635 billion VND have been carried out; Together with families, clans, and residential areas, we supported the renovation and repair of 4,987 solidarity houses; gave gifts to poor students who overcame difficulties and were in especially difficult circumstances; supported production development worth hundreds of billions of VND...
These practical activities not only contribute to ensuring social security, but also spread humanistic values, the spirit of "compassion and forgiveness" of Buddhism, the spirit of "living the gospel in the heart of the nation" of Catholicism, affirming the spirit of blood ties between religious compatriots and their homeland and country.
Along with that, religious people in the province have actively participated in the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", build cultural families, preserve and promote traditional cultural values. Religious ceremonies are organized solemnly, economically, associated with practicing civilized lifestyle, eliminating superstition; practicing civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals and festivals... Religious people are also an active force participating in maintaining political security, social order and safety at the grassroots level. Models: "Building progressive and exemplary landscape pagodas"; "Peaceful parish", "Cultural family" continue to be built and replicated in many localities... contributing to stabilizing the security situation, social order in religious areas, preventing "hot spots" and complicated complaints.
The steadfast belief in the Party and beloved Uncle Ho, along with the spirit of solidarity, humanity and responsibility of religious people, is a great strength, contributing to building Ninh Binh to become increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized, becoming a bright spot of great national unity in the new era.
