Comrade Dong Van Thanh holds the position of Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee.

Member of the Politburo , Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organizing Committee Le Minh Hung presented the Decision and flowers to congratulate comrade Dong Van Thanh.

At the Conference, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Do Trong Hung announced Decision No. 1729-QDNS/TW dated December 4, 2024 of the Politburo approving Comrade Dong Van Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to hold the position of Secretary of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee, term 2020-2025.

On behalf of the Politburo , comrade Le Minh Hung congratulated comrade Dong Van Thanh on being assigned a new responsibility by the Politburo; at the same time, he believed that with his experience, maturity through practical work and affection for the Party Committee and people of Hau Giang province, he would excellently complete the assigned tasks.

The Head of the Central Organizing Committee requested the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, all levels and sectors of Hau Giang province to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, unity, sharing, support, assistance and creating conditions for comrade Dong Van Thanh in his position as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee to focus on leading and directing the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 14th Hau Giang Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025; striving to further develop Hau Giang province in the coming time.

Previously, on December 1, 2024, the Standing Committee of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee held a meeting of the Provincial Party Committee to elect the Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term. The meeting was attended by 45/46 members of the Provincial Party Committee. At the meeting, 100% of the attendees unanimously elected comrade Dong Van Thanh, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, to hold the position of Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term.

Comrade Dong Van Thanh, born on June 24, 1969, is from Phong Dien district, Can Tho city. He has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a high level of political theory.

In 2004, Hau Giang province was separated and established from Can Tho, comrade Dong Van Thanh held the position of Vice Chairman of Chau Thanh A District People's Committee. In June 2007, he was transferred and appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of the Office of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee. In May 2011, he was appointed to the position of Chief of the Office of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee.

In September 2014, he was appointed as Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang province. In October 2020, at the Congress of Delegates of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee, term 2020-2025, he was elected as Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. At the 18th session of the People's Council of Hau Giang province, term IX, term 2016-2021, he was elected as Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee./.
