"I was sitting at home with my family when I was startled because the furniture in the house shook violently, there was a loud noise for about 5-10 seconds," said Manh Thang (in Thanh Thuy district).

Mr. Cuong (in Ba Vi district) said that he felt his desk and phone vibrate strongly for about 2-3 seconds, then he realized it was an earthquake. To ensure people's safety against earthquakes, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Phuong - senior expert of the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center recommends:

"In Vietnam, strong and destructive earthquakes like those in Japan, the Philippines or Indonesia are very rare, mainly medium earthquakes, but even medium ones can cause damage.

Therefore, when an earthquake occurs, people should leave their homes and seek open spaces to avoid dangers such as collapsed ceilings or falling objects on people. And especially, they must follow the recommendations of specialized authorities and recommendations of earthquake scientists .
