Le Trai Dang Van Hoa (1791 - 1856) was one of the first people to pass the imperial examinations under the Nguyen Dynasty in the capital Hue and was a "four-dynasty veteran" serving under the reigns of kings Gia Long, Minh Mang, Thieu Tri and Tu Duc for nearly 40 years.
In the dynasty there were 6 ministries, he held the position of Minister of 5 ministries: Military, Public Works, Justice, Finance, and Rites.
He also has other names such as Dang Van Chieu, Dang Van Thiem, belonging to the Dang family in Phu Vang commune, Hue city. His ancestors once settled in Hien Sy village, Phong Thai ward; then moved to Bac Vong Dong village, Dan Dien commune and resided in his maternal hometown Thanh Luong village, Kim Tra ward today.
During his official career, he held many important positions in the court as well as in the town and left many strong marks in the fields of politics , economics, military, culture, education, society...
At the scientific conference "Dang Van Hoa's Ceremony - Life and Career", delegates focused on discussing many contents, continuing to affirm the role and historical position of Dang Van Hoa's Ceremony in the construction and development of the country in the first half of the 19th century under the Nguyen Dynasty.
At the same time, comprehensively analyze and evaluate his life, career and great contributions in various fields; clarify the contributions of the Dang family and Mr. Dang Van Hoa personally to the land of the ancient capital Hue as well as in the cause of nation building under the Nguyen Dynasty.
The workshop also proposed directions for preserving and promoting the value of tangible and intangible cultural heritage related to the Dang Van Hoa Trai Ceremony; educating the tradition of patriotism, promoting ideological values, personality and historical lessons from the example of Dang Van Hoa to the young generation...
Previously, in September 2025, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 3243/QD-BVHTTDL to rank Dang Van Hoa Tomb in Phong Thai Ward, Hue City as a National Monument.
It is known that from 2022 to now, descendants of the Dang family have contributed nearly 800 million VND to renovate the tomb of Le Trai Dang Van Hoa, upgrade the garden, erect an introduction stele and demarcate the protected area of the relic.
