In celebration of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23), on the morning of November 22, Dong Hung district organized the 2023 clay firecracker competition to preserve and promote the value of traditional folk games of the homeland, building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.

The competition was attended by over 70 gunners from 5 teams representing localities with a developed clay firecracker movement in the district. The teams competed in 2 categories: pot firecrackers and boat firecrackers. To successfully launch a firecracker, there are 3 important factors: selecting and handling the soil, the technique of pressing the firecrackers and launching the firecrackers. With boat firecrackers, the 25 - 28kg heavy firecrackers are lifted by the gunners to face and chest level, and slammed down on the ground hard and fast, creating a loud explosion, and the shell of the firecracker opens. The louder the firecracker explodes, the longer the shell opens, and the more skillful the firecrackers are, the more skillful the gunners and the more skillful the firecracker makers are. With pot firecrackers, the small firecracker weighs 3 - 5kg, the higher and farther the gunners throw the firecrackers, the shell of the firecracker does not break, and the louder the sound when it lands, the more successful the winner is. The clay firecracker competition has attracted a large number of people and tourists to watch and cheer.

The teams received souvenir flags and congratulatory flowers.
