To celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23), on the morning of November 22, Dong Hung district organized the 2023 firecracker competition to preserve and promote the value of traditional folk games of the homeland, and to build and develop an advanced Vietnamese culture rich in national identity.

Over 70 firecracker makers from 5 teams, representing localities with developed firecracker-making traditions in the district, participated in the competition. The teams competed in two categories: pot firecrackers and boat firecrackers. Three key factors are crucial for successfully launching a firecracker: selecting and preparing the soil, the technique of triggering the fuse, and launching the firecracker itself. For boat firecrackers, the 25-28kg firecrackers were lifted to face or chest level and slammed down onto the ground with great force and speed, creating a loud explosion and causing the firecracker's body to open. The louder the explosion, the longer the opening, and the more intact the body, the more skillful the firecracker maker and the more refined their technique. For pot firecrackers, the smaller firecrackers, weighing 3-5kg, were launched. The higher and farther the firecracker flew, the more intact the body, and the louder the sound upon landing, the better the firecracker won. The firecracker competition attracted a large crowd of locals and tourists who came to watch and cheer.

The competing teams received commemorative flags and congratulatory flowers.

The Organizing Committee awarded the first prize for the cannonball boat to the team from Phu Luong commune.

At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to the winning teams.
