At the 2024 National U11 Championship, U11 SLNA won the championship but then had all titles, cups, medals and bonuses revoked. According to the VFF Disciplinary Board, U11 SLNA registered and used players of the wrong age in the regulations, violating the tournament's regulations.
In addition, two individuals involved, head of delegation Tran Quang Dung and coach Nguyen Quang Tho, were also banned from participating in tournaments organized by the Vietnam Football Federation for two years.
After receiving the disciplinary sentence, SLNA sent a complaint to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). In the complaint, SLNA said that the VFF Disciplinary Board did not notify or work with the club about the age fraud suspicion. SLNA also did not have a meeting to provide documents and records related to the case.
In the complaint, SLNA General Director Ho Le Duc said: “When participating in the tournament, Song Lam Nghe An Team complied with the regulations, providing all the records and papers as stipulated and requested by the Organizing Committee. And these papers and documents were all issued and certified by competent authorities in accordance with the provisions of law.”
Regarding the verification of the age of the players, specifically in the case of the BVB player, the birth certificate (original) of the BVB player provided by the family shows that the time the family registered the birth of this player was March 2, 2013.
SLNA said the birth certificate was not a new or re-registered family registration during the 2022 recruitment period or to participate in the tournament, but the family registered at the time the BVB player was born in 2013.
In addition to the complaint, SLNA also sent documents including records and documents related to BVB players.
SLNA is one of the leading youth football training centers in Vietnam. However, in the past, SLNA youth teams were also involved in suspicions of age fraud of players when participating in youth tournaments. SLNA was stripped of the national U11 tournament title in 2001, 2002; U13 tournament in 2003, U15 tournament in 2003.
