Dong Thap 10th grade entrance exam after 3 years, how to calculate scores?

On the afternoon of March 28, at the press conference of Dong Thap province, Mr. Truong Thanh Binh - Head of the Quality Management Department of the Department of Education and Training of Dong Thap province - said that the People's Committee of Dong Thap province has approved the enrollment plan for grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year.

The exam is expected to take place from June 2 to 4.

Nguyen Quang Dieu High School for the Gifted and Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School for the Gifted will take exams in three subjects: math, literature and English.

Candidates are selected to take two specialized subjects, based on the exam results, they will be considered for specialized subject 1, if the student fails specialized subject 1, they will continue to be considered for specialized subject 2. Each school recruits one specialized class, but the three specialized subjects of math, English, and computer science are recruited with no more than two classes, each class with no more than 35 students.

The admission score for specialized classes is the total score of non-specialized subject exams (coefficient 1) and specialized subject exam scores (coefficient 2).

There are two schools that admit students to grade 10: the Gifted, Sports Training and Competition High School and the Future Primary, Secondary and High School.

The rest of the high schools will enroll students in grade 10 through entrance exams. Candidates will take three compulsory subjects including literature, math (essay) and English (combining essay and multiple choice). The admission score is equal to the score of the three subjects plus priority/incentive points (if any).

Admission results are expected to be announced on June 22.

Responding to Tuoi Tre Online 's question about many parents' worries after many years of recruiting students for grade 10 (non-specialized) by examination, this year switching to entrance exams, how the department is preparing, especially how it is oriented from the beginning of the year, Mr. Binh said that previously due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, Dong Thap province agreed to allow students to take entrance exams for grade 10 (non-specialized) from 2022 to 2024.

But now changing it to an entrance exam is suitable for general conditions. Currently, there are about 60 provinces and cities organizing entrance exams for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year.

"Since the beginning of the school year, we have implemented learning content so that students can acquire the necessary knowledge, so that no matter what form of admission is used, students can ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to participate in the 10th grade entrance exam," said Mr. Binh.
