Anti-counterfeiting peak period: Strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations

On the afternoon of May 27, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai - Head of the Working Group and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Bao Ha chaired a meeting of the Working Group on the peak of the fight to prevent and repel crimes of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been no hot spots of smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, or trade fraud in the Ha Tinh market. However, violations of trading in goods without invoices, poor quality goods, goods of unknown origin, etc. are still occurring on a small scale.

According to the report of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, in the first 5 months of the year, forces in the province arrested and handled 289 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods; the value of infringing goods was 3.6 billion VND.

Head of Customs Branch XI Bui Thanh San - Deputy Head of Provincial Steering Committee 389 reported on the results of anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods work in recent times.

Implementing the Prime Minister 's direction on the peak of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement, Ha Tinh has launched a peak period, established a Working Group and developed an implementation plan. The peak period will be from May 15 to June 15, 2025.

Tasks and powers of the Working Group:

- Directing the inspection and urging of departments, branches, localities, and functional forces in the deployment and implementation of Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister, Official Dispatch No. 08/CD-UBND dated May 21, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee on launching a peak period against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and goods infringing intellectual property rights; instructions of the Government, National Steering Committee 389, and Provincial People's Committee in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

- Direct the inspection and recommend handling of organizations and individuals who lack a sense of responsibility, are negative, lax in management, assist in smuggling, trade fraud, produce and trade in counterfeit goods, and infringe on intellectual property rights.

- Request relevant departments, branches, localities, and functional forces to provide information on the situation and results of fighting smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in the area and management field; and documents on violations when necessary.

- Conduct a summary and evaluation of the implementation of the telegrams; propose to the Provincial People's Committee directions and solutions to solve important, inter-sectoral issues to improve the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; report to the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation results.

At the meeting, members of the Working Group informed about the situation of anti-smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods of the units in the past time, the difficulties in the fight against counterfeit goods and the tasks to focus on implementing during the peak period.
