Mr. A Viet Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Giang district, said that one chapter has ended but will open up many new and better development opportunities. With the belief and determination of the entire political system and the ethnic communities of Nam Giang district, it is hoped that the new commune-level government will continue the tradition, especially in promoting the spirit of great unity while preserving the cultural identity of the land and people of Giang region.
Appreciation Day
Unlike previous events, the 2025 Ethnic Culture Festival of Nam Giang District left many emotions in the hearts of both locals and tourists as they witnessed an unprecedented gathering: Gratitude to the community!
According to Mr. A Viet Son, the cultural and artistic activities taking place at this year's festival all evoke a spirit of unity and pride among the local people throughout their long history of formation and development.
With the theme "Nam Giang - Echoes of Identity, Marks of a Journey," the festival truly created a colorful space, bringing together many generations of people from Nam Giang.
“The people are very enthusiastic and welcome the festival, seeing it as an opportunity to express gratitude to the land and the community. It's a meaningful festival, especially in the context of Nam Giang preparing to enter a new era: the reorganization of commune-level administrative units and the cessation of district-level administrative units,” Mr. Son shared.
Unlike previous participations, this year, artisan Bhling Hanh (from Cong Don village, Zuoih commune) came to the festival with mixed emotions. It was not only an opportunity to exchange experiences and learn from each other in preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the local people, but also marked the journey of the local community. Therefore, Bhling Hanh said that no matter how busy he was, he would try his best to participate and fulfill the task entrusted to him by the community.
"This is also an opportunity for us to meet and teach our children and grandchildren how to preserve traditional culture. The cultural identity of the ethnic minorities in Nam Giang district is very interesting and beautiful, so for more than 40 years I have tried my best to preserve and pass it on."
"Even though it will no longer be at the district level, we hope that the cultural festival will continue to be inherited and organized at the commune level so that people can interact, learn, and contribute to the preservation of their cultural identity," shared elder Bhling Hạnh.
Strengthening solidarity
According to Mr. Le Van Huong, Secretary of the Nam Giang District Party Committee, over the 77 years since its establishment, Nam Giang has always preserved and promoted the cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the area, considering it a continuous and inseparable development goal.
This year, the festival takes place in a very special context, also as an opportunity for local people to come together to recall the glorious revolutionary traditions of the heroic Nam Giang homeland. It is also a way to honor and affirm that the cultural identity of the ethnic groups is always preserved, promoted, and widely disseminated.
Following this event, the Nam Giang community is determined to further strengthen national unity, unleash the inherent strength from cultural identity values, and promote the development and enrichment of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
According to Mr. Huong, the festival is an opportunity for the sounds of gongs and drums to resonate amidst the majestic mountains and forests, for artisans to be inspired in each dance and drum beat; and for young people to further love, understand, and be proud of their homeland and cultural identity.
The people of Nam Giang connect traditional historical and cultural values with socio-economic development, unleashing potential and attracting investment associated with community-based tourism development.
Besides respecting and preserving historical traditions and cultural identity, Mr. Huong noted that Nam Giang is entering a very important transformation phase, especially in implementing the new administrative unit reorganization policy.
“This process will significantly impact the feelings, habits, and long-standing attachments of the local people. However, with a tradition of solidarity, revolutionary spirit, and deep love for their homeland, I believe that the people of all ethnic groups in Nam Giang district will continue to work together to overcome difficulties and continue writing the journey of comprehensive and sustainable development,” Mr. Huong emphasized.
