“This year, we have many days off, so my family took our elderly parents and two children to go early and visit many places. If you go to Phu Quoc and the islands during this season without booking in advance, you won’t get a room, and the boats will be crowded,” said Mr. Tuan, who lives in Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province.
The leaders of the Kien Giang Province Bus and Train Station Enterprise have signed a transport plan to serve passengers before, during and after the April 30 and May 1 holidays. It is forecasted that the number of passengers on this year's April 30 holiday will likely increase by 15-20% compared to normal days.
For transport routes from the shore to the island, the number of passengers at Rach Gia port to Phu Quoc, Rach Gia to Kien Hai (Nam Du, Hon Son, Hon Tre) all increased from April 30 to May 4.
During this holiday, the Rach Gia - Hon Son route will have 12 trips/day, an increase of 9 trips/day; the Rach Gia - Hon Tre route will have 6 trips/day, an increase of 2 trips/day compared to normal days. The An Son - Around the island route will have a high number of passenger transport vehicles operating to 15 trips/day, an increase of 12 trips compared to normal days.
For the high-speed ferry route from Rach Gia - Phu Quoc, there will be 10 trips/day, an increase of 2 trips/day compared to normal days; the high-speed ferry route from Rach Gia - Nam Du and vice versa Nam Du - Rach Gia will also increase to 6 trips/day, an increase of 3 trips/day compared to normal days. The ferry route from Rach Gia - Phu Quoc will have 4 trips/day, no increase.
Kien Giang Department of Tourism has directed local tourism establishments to strengthen inspections of service quality, security, tourist safety, food hygiene and safety, and environmental protection. Registration and posting of service prices (travel, accommodation, transportation, tour guides, food and beverage, etc.) are also strictly implemented.
In the first quarter of 2025, Kien Giang welcomed over 3.1 million visitors (up 13.7% over the same period last year), of which international visitors are estimated to welcome nearly 480,000 (up 65%). Total revenue reached over 13,000 billion VND (up 79.4%).
