With the goal of welcoming 18.8 million tourists and achieving revenue of 77,000 billion VND in 2026, Khanh Hoa's tourism industry is hoping for a strong leap forward, truly becoming a key economic sector, contributing to double-digit economic growth for the province.
The goal is to become a pillar driving economic development.
With the rapid recovery and growth in visitor numbers and revenue over the past years, Khanh Hoa's tourism sector is creating momentum for a new growth cycle, aiming to become a pillar driving economic development. According to the report of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee, it is estimated that in 2025, the province will welcome 16.4 million overnight visitors, an increase of nearly 14.4% compared to 2024, of which international visitors will reach 5.5 million, an increase of over 13.4%. Total tourism revenue is estimated to reach over 66,700 billion VND, an increase of over 16.8%. These results show that Khanh Hoa's tourism has fully recovered, regaining its position as a leading coastal tourism center in the country and creating a solid foundation for the next phase of development.

Based on that, Khanh Hoa's tourism industry aims to welcome 18.8 million visitors in 2026, including 6.3 million international visitors, with revenue reaching 77,000 billion VND. Mr. Cung Quynh Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated that to achieve this goal, Khanh Hoa's tourism industry will implement a comprehensive set of solutions to promote tourism development, such as: developing new products in a green and sustainable direction, strengthening tourism linkages, and boosting domestic and international promotion and advertising. Along with attracting domestic tourists, the industry will focus on promoting and advertising to attract key and high-potential markets such as Russia, Kazakhstan, China, South Korea, Malaysia, India, Japan, and Thailand.
Mr. Pham Minh Nhut, Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, stated: "The goals for 2026 are very high, so the tourism industry must make every effort, from product development to promotion and advertising to attract tourists." Mr. Nhut proposed expanding diving spots in Nha Trang Bay, adding inland waterway terminals on the Cai River to develop river tourism, and promoting community-based tourism… At the same time, he emphasized strengthening security and order, building a civilized tourism environment, and strictly dealing with fraudulent and exploitative practices targeting tourists.
A long-term strategic vision is needed.
Despite achieving many successes, the development of tourism in Khanh Hoa province is still not commensurate with its potential and advantages. Specifically, the international tourist market remains unbalanced, with a large proportion of South Korean tourists; there is a lack of nighttime entertainment products and services; and ecotourism and community-based tourism are still limited. At the workshop "Khanh Hoa Tourism - A Growth Pole to Promote Economic Pillars" held at the end of December 2025, Mr. Ta Van Ha - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Social Affairs - suggested that Khanh Hoa should proactively propose pilot models, from managing the bay area and developing high-end resorts to specialized tourism services such as medical tourism and cruise tourism. In particular, for tourism to achieve breakthrough development, Khanh Hoa needs to focus on developing three strategic areas: Nha Trang - Cam Ranh - Van Phong, leveraging its infrastructure, marine and island resources, and international brand. Also at this workshop, Associate Professor Pham Trung Luong, a member of the National Planning Advisory Expert Group, noted that while Khanh Hoa's tourism has achieved good results, its night-time economy and large-scale entertainment products have not developed proportionally. To become a regional and national tourism center, Khanh Hoa needs a long-term strategic vision, improved planning, synchronized infrastructure investment, and a restructuring of tourism products and markets.

At the meeting of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee on January 6th, many delegates also pointed out the aforementioned limitations. Comrade Nguyen Long Bien, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the tourism industry needs to face reality to overcome limitations, remove obstacles, and create conditions for breakthrough tourism development, aiming to become one of the four pillars of economic growth drivers as outlined in Resolution No. 01 of the Provincial Party Committee on double-digit economic growth for the period 2025-2030. Accordingly, he requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to quickly finalize the draft Khanh Hoa Provincial Tourism Development Strategy for the period 2025-2030, with a vision to 2045; and to finalize the Provincial Tourism Action Plan for 2026 with a more decisive spirit, more innovative thinking, and more comprehensive solutions. The Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center will preside over the organization of the Khanh Hoa Beach Tourism Festival 2026; strengthen communication and promotional activities in a professional manner, applying Industry 4.0 technology, affirming Khanh Hoa as a safe, high-quality, attractive and friendly destination. The Department of Finance will accelerate the implementation of the Nighttime Economy Development Project to diversify tourism products and services to increase revenue and competitiveness of Khanh Hoa tourism... At the same time, the tourism industry and localities will strengthen inspections and strictly handle cases of violations of the law in the tourism sector that affect the image and brand of Khanh Hoa tourism... to create a safe, civilized, friendly tourism environment, aiming for sustainable development.
Comrade Nguyen Long Bien - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, relevant departments, localities, and businesses, should research and develop new, attractive tour packages that seamlessly connect different regions and diversify tourism types, especially community-based tourism. They should also research and incorporate the province's distinctive products (bird's nest, agarwood, Bau Truc pottery, OCOP products, traditional craft villages, etc.) into the tourism industry, creatively building product narratives that resonate with tourists. Simultaneously, the tourism sector should organize programs and workshops to find solutions for promoting the province's tourism in a way that suits the needs and tastes of different target groups and markets; and cooperate with airlines to maintain and expand international routes, creating favorable conditions for tourists to visit Khanh Hoa.
