(Fatherland) - On October 30, at Khe Coc Cultural Space Center, Trang An Scenic Complex (Ninh Binh Province), the Vietnam Tourism Training Association and the 'Cultural Tourism Talent Incubator' Project organized an international scientific conference with the theme 'Training and using human resources for cultural tourism in the context of international integration'.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism , spoke at the Workshop.
The conference attracted more than 150 authors and research groups to submit papers. The authors and research groups came from 75 universities, academies, research institutes, colleges, secondary schools and enterprises nationwide. The conference is not only a forum for academic exchange but also opens up opportunities for extensive international cooperation in the field of cultural tourism. This is also an important stepping stone in the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy to 2030, focusing on cultural tourism products associated with the preservation and promotion of traditional heritage.
The conference was held when Vietnam had just won three top Asian tourism awards in 2024, including: “Asia’s Leading Destination 2024”, “Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination 2024” and “Asia’s Leading Natural Destination 2024”. These achievements affirm Vietnam’s position on the international tourism map, while promoting the need to develop high-quality human resources in the field of cultural tourism.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) said that cultural tourism is one of the most important key products of Vietnam tourism. This has been affirmed in documents, directives and strategies for tourism development in Vietnam. Accordingly, to develop sustainable Vietnam tourism, the human factor is extremely important.
However, there are still some challenges in cultural tourism such as: training programs are not updated, not keeping up with new trends, new exploitation technology; curriculum compilation is not keeping up with the integration context; difficulties in competing in attracting human resources...
Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh said that the presentations and discussions of delegates and experts at the workshop are valuable information for the Department of Tourism to record and absorb, thereby advising the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to find solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles in training human resources for cultural tourism in the coming time.
Speaking at the workshop, Professor, Dr. Dao Manh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Training Association, said that in 2024, Vietnam was honored to receive 3 awards: "Asia's Leading Destination 2024", "Asia's Leading Heritage Destination 2024" and "Asia's Leading Natural Destination 2024"; thereby showing the position and attractiveness of Vietnam tourism. The awards are recognition of culturally-based tourist destinations. The Vietnam tourism development strategy to 2030 clearly defines "Focus on developing quality, diverse, distinctive tourism products with high added value and enhancing the experience for tourists, suitable for market demand and enhancing the competitiveness of each destination", emphasizing "focusing on developing cultural tourism products associated with preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritages and traditional history of the nation to form unique, distinctive tourism products with competitive advantages and contributing to building a prominent brand of Vietnamese tourism with international friends".
According to Professor, Dr. Dao Manh Hung, to create a highly competitive tourism product, the quality of tourism human resources plays a very important role. The human resource development strategy must be given due and reasonable attention to maintain the brand and service quality in the context of international integration.
At the Workshop, the issues that delegates focused on discussing were: Clarifying the concept of cultural tourism products and the current situation as well as the necessity of improving the quality of training and using cultural tourism human resources in the context of international integration; finding out the fundamental causes that determine the quality of training cultural tourism human resources at training institutions; specific factors in training and using human resources for cultural tourism products at training institutions and tourism enterprises; fundamental solutions in training and using cultural tourism human resources to achieve high efficiency in the current period of deep international integration./.
