Inseparable from environment and community

Mr. Dinh Gia Long - General Director of Sun Paradise Land, SunGroup Corporation, said that Phu Quoc developing green tourism is an inevitable direction and cannot be separated from responsibility to the environment and community.

Phu Quoc is oriented by the Government to become an international center of ecology, resort, finance, innovation and the best environment. This beautiful island has risen to become one of the top tourist destinations attracting millions of domestic and foreign visitors.

International media highly appreciated this place when calling it "The 2nd most wonderful island in the world , after Maldives".

Mr. Long added that the tourism infrastructure system has developed remarkably with the appearance of a series of high-class resorts, large-scale entertainment areas, international airports, seaports, and convenient connecting roads, which have helped create a modern and systematic appearance of Phu Quoc tourism, contributing to raising the image of the "pearl island" on the regional tourism map.

"In the journey to create a high-end tourism - resort - entertainment ecosystem in Phu Quoc, Sun Group always sets sustainable development as a guiding principle. All projects are designed in harmony with nature, ensuring a high proportion of green space. In Hon Thom, nearly 70% of the area is retained to develop green areas, ecological forests and open landscapes, so visitors can fully experience the natural beauty of Phu Quoc's mountains and forests," said Mr. Long.

SunGroup always arranges personnel and a specialized sand filter system to clean beaches such as Kem beach, Bai Dat Do beach, Hon Thom beach... to serve residents and tourists who come to swim; all means of transportation in the internal area use electric vehicles, limiting emissions.

Hotels and resorts in the Sun Group ecosystem are committed to not using disposable plastic products and prioritizing environmentally friendly materials.

Phu Quoc is currently facing major challenges in forest conservation and development; traffic routes divide forest space, and residents live interspersed in the core and buffer zones, creating considerable pressure in controlling environmental cleaning.

Therefore, people and tourism businesses in Phu Quoc need to be aware, join hands to collect garbage, put garbage in the right place, and develop sustainable green tourism.

Mr. Nguyen Ha Trieu - Director of Nautilus Cruise in An Thoi Ward (Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang) - acknowledged that there is a lot of household waste in the natural marine environment. When exploiting sea tourism and coral diving, the unit always arranges staff to clean up trash in the ocean. Every time collecting and cleaning trash under the sea, a lot of plastic bags, plastic bags, and plastic bottles are collected.

"Currently, the unit receives 500 guests/day. The number of guests is quite stable. To protect the environment and reduce waste, we collect trash and bring it to the mainland to dispose of it properly, not littering the sea. We also plant coral and always clean it to have the most beautiful and meaningful diving place for guests when coming to Phu Quoc," said Mr. Trieu.

Environmental pollution must be strictly punished.

A representative of SunGroup Corporation informed that Phu Quoc develops without emissions and tourism develops in harmony with local nature conservation, requiring strong sanctions and strict handling of acts that cause environmental pollution.

Localities need to strictly demarcate and manage forest reserves, especially the national park areas in the North and Northeast of the island; select reputable and highly capable investors to develop types of tourism under the forest canopy such as trekking, glamping (high-end camping), art exhibitions and small events in the forest; develop elevated walking routes, mountain climbing trains for sightseeing without affecting the ecosystem and organize educational summer camps - nature experiences for students, linking recreational activities with conservation awareness.

"The marine environment of Phu Quoc Island is very beautiful, we think it is necessary to protect the coral reefs. Scuba diving tourism businesses should remind customers to limit the use of sunscreen or touching the corals to develop green tourism associated with nature," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Luyen - a tourist from Hanoi.

"Tourism products in Phu Quoc are very unique and attractive. We also hope that the locality, businesses and people will join hands to develop a roadmap for sustainable green tourism development associated with high-class ecological resorts. Domestic and foreign tourists coming to the island will understand and feel the story of the cultural and natural beauty of the island," Mr. Nguyen Van Hon - Vice President of Ca Mau Tourism Association - emphasized.
