Expectations from the new resolution
During the 2025 Da Nang City OCOP product exhibition and introduction fair at 24/3 Square (Ban Thach ward), the Cuc Thang chili pork sausage and Cuc Thang naturally fermented sour fermented pork sausage products from the Vo Ngoc Thang business household (Cay Sanh village, Phu Ninh commune) were continuously sold out.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Cuc, wife of Mr. Vo Ngoc Thang, the chili pork sausage product was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product in 2023, and the fermented pork sausage product will be recognized as a 3-star OCOP product in 2025. Besides being consumed locally within the city, the products are also known to consumers in other areas.
Speaking about government support, Ms. Cúc shared that when her chili pork sausage product achieved OCOP 3-star certification, the producer received 50% of the investment cost for a freezer, vacuum sealer, sausage maker, and steamer. For the second product achieving OCOP 3-star certification, she received a reward of 8 million VND. Even more encouraging was the full support provided for participating in trade fairs to promote OCOP products.
Ms. Cúc expects that, with the content and level of support for communication and promotion of OCOP products as stipulated in Resolution No. 23 of the City People's Council on the policy to support the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program for the period 2026 - 2030, it will be an opportunity to bring OCOP products to a wider range of consumers.
"When OCOP products are promoted systematically, and people understand and appreciate the dedication of the producers, they will prioritize choosing them for consumption. Only then can OCOP products develop and reach further," Ms. Cúc expressed.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Binh, Chairman of the Phu Ninh Commune People's Committee, there are 6 OCOP products (from 4 entities) in the commune that have been recognized with 3-star ratings and are still valid. The entities consistently focus on improving product quality and expanding markets through government support activities such as fairs, exhibitions, and networking forums. They also proactively seek markets through external connections.
“With the introduction of Resolution No. 23, Phu Ninh expects to have the impetus to ‘upgrade’ existing OCOP products, and develop more quality products that are suitable for the market, such as rural tourism services, and some processed agricultural and aquatic products: rice paper, dried noodles, freshwater fish, etc.,” Mr. Binh said.
Boost product development
According to analyses by local experts, Resolution No. 23, issued by the City People's Council, will provide greater support and impact on the promotion and expansion of trade for OCOP products. This includes specific support measures for practical implementation, such as the application of information technology and digital transformation in communication, OCOP conferences, and forums. This will make it easier for state management agencies to concretize the impact and support measures.
Support for OCOP (One Commune One Product) entities has also been expanded and increased, creating conditions for them to improve their products, meet requirements regarding origin management, product quality, environmental protection, and product development in the market. In addition, OCOP entities will have more opportunities and conditions to network and promote their products at conferences, forums, fairs, and events… Through this, entities will gradually improve their products and meet market demands.
Mr. Pham Van Phu, a specialist at the Economic Department of Tay Ho commune, said that in the commune, there are 7 OCOP products (from 5 entities) that have been recognized and re-recognized with a 3-star rating and are currently being produced and developed. He added that while these entities have received support in many aspects, it hasn't been as strong as stipulated in Resolution No. 23 recently issued by the City People's Council. "Effectively implementing the resolution will create more motivation for producers to invest in developing products that meet standards and quality requirements to reach the market," Mr. Phu shared.
According to Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung, the main entities of the OCOP program are small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives, and business households. These entities play a crucial role in the development of the private economy in accordance with Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW, dated May 4, 2025, of the Politburo and Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo on the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in production and business.
To date, the city has over 550 OCOP products that meet 3-5 star standards, providing a solid foundation and affirming the effectiveness and correctness of the development of distinctive products. The city's socio-economic development orientation in the coming period is to continue focusing policies to promote the OCOP program in a targeted and prioritized manner, closely linked to regional raw material sources and OCOP product value chains, creating momentum for the in-depth development of OCOP products, contributing to socio-economic development in rural areas and the construction of new rural areas within the city.
