With its advantage of tea-growing land, many localities in the province have skillfully integrated ethnic cultural identity with economic development from tea cultivation, creating a sustainable and culturally rich path. In La Bang commune, this combination has been effectively implemented through the preservation, safeguarding, and dissemination of Tay cultural values.
Then singing and Tinh lute playing clubs not only preserve the essence of the nation's culture but also become unique and attractive highlights for tourists visiting and experiencing the vast green tea plantations.
Since its establishment, the La Bang commune's Then singing and zither playing club has gathered 15 members who are passionate about practicing and performing. They are not only farmers who are attached to their tea plantations, but also "folk artists" who preserve the soul of the Then melodies.
During each gathering, the sounds of musical instruments and singing echo through the mountains and forests, creating a unique cultural atmosphere that entices visitors to stop, listen, and experience. Currently, club members regularly perform at resorts and local tourist destinations. Through these performances, they both preserve and spread the cultural values of the Tay ethnic group, while also contributing to promoting the image of their homeland and fostering tourism linked to traditional culture.
In fact, many households and residential areas in the province, such as La Bang, Ba Be, Na Ri, Tan Cuong, and Dinh Hoa communes, have learned to combine homestay and experiential tourism models with ethnic cultural performances.
Visitors can enjoy a hot cup of tea while listening to Then singing and Tinh playing, creating a unique and profound experience. This is also a way for locals to increase their income and develop the economy based on local strengths.

To create a unique experience for tourists, Mr. Nguyen Van Toi, owner of La Bang Eco-tourism Area (La Bang commune), stated: "We develop tourism services linked to relaxation and experiences. When tourists want to learn about ethnic culture, the tourist area will cooperate with local households and Then singing and Tinh playing clubs to organize performances. Through this, tourists can both enjoy the distinctive cultural features and contribute to spreading and preserving the identity of the Tay people."
Integrating traditional culture with economic development not only creates sustainable livelihoods for the people but also contributes to spreading the Tay ethnic identity in the process of integration.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of La Bang commune, said: "We have invited professional staff to teach the people about the fundamentals of Then singing. The Then singing and Tinh lute clubs not only preserve and conserve traditional cultural values, but also perform for the people and tourists during festivals, holidays, or important local events. This is also a way to spread the Tay cultural identity and awaken pride and awareness of preserving heritage within the community."
In many localities, Then singing and Tinh playing are becoming important "soft resources." The melodies of Then songs not only resonate during festivals and family gatherings but have also become part of community life, becoming a unique highlight that attracts tourists.
