On the afternoon of August 3, the Korean women's team will face Germany in the final match of Group H of the 2023 World Cup.
The South Korean and German women's teams were both eliminated after the group stage of the 2023 World Cup.
Right from the first minutes, the two teams increased their speed, playing tit for tat with the goal of 3 points to keep their hopes of moving on alive.
In the 6th minute, Lee Youngju made a delicate pass that eliminated the entire German defense for Cho Sohyun to escape and shoot neatly past goalkeeper Merle Frohms, putting Korea ahead.
After conceding the goal, the German women's team rushed forward to attack and pushed the opponent back to their own half.
After many missed opportunities, it was not until near the end of the first half that the black and white team found the equalizer.
In the 42nd minute, Svenja Huth crossed the ball into the penalty area for captain Alexandra Popp to jump high and head the ball into the Korean net, bringing the match back to the starting line.
After the break, the German women's team continued to push up their attacking formation in order to score more goals.
In the 57th minute, Alexandra Popp put the ball into the Korean net, but after checking VAR, the referee determined that the player wearing number 11 was offside.
3 minutes later, receiving a cross from her teammate, Alexandra Popp rushed in and powerfully headed the ball, sending it bouncing off the crossbar of the Korean goal and out.
On the other hand, although almost out of hope of advancing, the Korean women's team still played very resiliently.
In the last 30 minutes of the match, the Korean team had almost no notable attacks.
Instead, the Korean women's team proactively pulled their formation low to play defense against Germany.
In the end, the match between the German and Korean women's teams ended with a score of 1-1.
With this result, the German and Korean women's teams shared the bottom two positions in Group H and officially said goodbye to the 2023 World Cup.
