According to the official dispatch that Vietnam Social Security (VSS) has just sent to regional social security agencies and provincial and municipal social security agencies, from June 1, the social security agency will not issue paper health insurance cards to participants.
People need to install the VssID or VNeID application to use the electronic health insurance card when going to see a doctor or get medical treatment.

Instead, people will use electronic health insurance cards on the digital social insurance application - VssID or the electronic identification application - VNeID when going to see a doctor or get medical treatment.
For cases of requesting re-issuance or exchange of health insurance cards, social insurance officers will guide participants to install the VssID application, the VNeID application and guide them to use the health insurance card image on the applications for medical examination and treatment instead of the paper health insurance card.
The Social Insurance Agency will only issue paper health insurance cards for those who cannot install VssID, VneID and do not have a chip-embedded citizen identification card (CCCD).
Can integrate health insurance card into VneID application
To examine and treat diseases, Vietnam Social Security guides people to perform the following steps:
Install the VssID or VNeID application on your smartphone.
Then, open the application and log in, select "Paper Wallet", then select "Integrate information". Next, select "Create new" request and enter the health insurance card number and card issuing unit information to complete the integration.
For the VssID application, currently, most accounts have been authenticated with population data and updated CCCD numbers.
For accounts that have not been updated, users can follow these steps to update their CCCD number or personal identification number for social insurance and health insurance participants in the VssID application.
4 steps to update CCCD
To check the updated CCCD number on the VssID application, users can open the VssID application on their phone and log in to their account.
If the account already displays the CCCD number, there is no need to update. If the old ID number is still there and you need to change the information, follow these steps:
Step 1: access the address: https://dichvucong.baohiemxahoi.gov.vn - log in with your VssID account.
Step 2: When you have successfully logged in, look up and select "Account Information" to change your ID card/CCCD number.
Step 3: In the information management section, you can easily edit the ID card/CCCD number.
Step 4: Confirm at the Social Security Agency. After completing the online information change, the user will receive a notification requesting to go to the nearest Social Security Agency to confirm and complete the information change on the Social Security system.
If people have difficulty installing, please contact the local Social Security agency for support.
