With the application of blockchain-based technology, users can detect real and fake diplomas and documents by touching their smartphones to them.
On December 19, at Hue College, the Copyright Announcement Ceremony of "Document Self-Authentication Software" and Application in Digital Transformation took place.
Hue College's diplomas will apply Nomion technology solution interacting with NFC/RFID chip to identify and determine the documents as originals issued by the school itself.
This is to serve the needs of individuals and organizations to look up diplomas and certificates, as well as to serve the management and simplification of administrative procedures, along with the ability to secure and ensure data security during authentication.
Accordingly, each diploma issued by Hue College will be attached with an NFC/RFID chip. When the user touches it with a smartphone, the image and information of the diploma authenticated by the school will appear.
In addition, to determine whether this is a real or fake diploma, users can use the Nomion application to verify. If it is a real diploma, full information about the name, number, date, unit and person granted will appear, along with the original authentication. Meanwhile, if it is a fake diploma, a warning will immediately appear that this is not an original diploma. This authentication is done from the database on the blockchain.
Notably, the NFC/RFID chip attached to the diploma has been encoded, and when subjected to physical impact such as removal, it will "self-destruct".
According to Mr. Huy Nguyen, co-founder of Phygital Labs, one of the problems in the current digitalization of documents is the situation of forgery and fraud. Accordingly, the rate of detecting fake degrees in some countries increased by 20% compared to 5 years ago; it is estimated that 5-10% of real estate transactions are at risk from unauthenticated documents; the rate of detecting fake ID cards and citizen identification cards increased by 15% in the period 2019-2023 and global losses due to online fraud exceed 1,000 billion USD/year.
Mr. Huy Nguyen said that the increase in counterfeiting significantly reduces trust in digital documents, promoting the need for authentication. Therefore, the solution offered by Phygital Labs combined with blockchain technology will solve this problem.
Hue College has become a pioneer in Vietnam in applying self-authentication technology ineducation management, directly promoting digital transformation in the education sector in Thua Thien Hue province.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Hoang Bao Hung, Principal of Hue College, said that Hue College is aiming to become the first digital college in Vietnam.
The school has continuously applied technology in the digital transformation process. Currently, 100% of documents exchanged in the school are online, no more paper documents.
Identifying diplomas in digital space is a plan that the school has cherished for a long time and today it has officially been realized, demonstrating the school's determination in digital transformation.
