Outstanding Mechanized Hero Nguyen Van Que

During the historic month of April, the story of the resilient and courageous soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh Army fighting the enemy to win independence and freedom for the Fatherland has left a deep sense of pride in every Vietnamese citizen. A prime example is veteran Nguyen Van Que, one of the outstanding tank destroyers during the resistance war against the US. He is also one of the five exemplary representatives from Vinh Phuc province who were honored to meet with General Secretary To Lam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

Enlisting in April 1974 at the age of twenty, Mr. Nguyen Van Que carried within him the determination to fight alongside his comrades to defeat the American enemy and liberate the South. From the moment he entered the battlefield, he participated in many campaigns and achieved numerous victories. From the opening campaign in the Central Highlands to the day of the liberation of the South, this small soldier never once failed in any of his assigned tasks. The memories of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, with its skillful maneuvers deep within enemy territory, will forever remain an unforgettable song for veteran Nguyen Van Que.

With his courageous spirit, throughout his time fighting and serving in the Army after liberation, Mr. Nguyen Van Que achieved many accomplishments and was awarded numerous Liberation War Merit Medals, Resistance Medals, and National Defense Medals. But for him, the title "Outstanding Mechanized Hero" remains the most cherished memory of his military career.

Upholding the qualities of a soldier, upon returning to peacetime, veteran Nguyen Van Que continued to actively participate in local movements alongside his comrades.

The story of the heroic memories of veteran Nguyen Van Que further affirms the courage and hatred of the enemy, and the readiness to face danger to protect the Fatherland of Uncle Ho's soldiers. For today's and future generations, the great sacrifices of those who wrote history like veteran Nguyen Van Que will forever be an unforgettable epic.
