Trent Alexander-Arnold has made public his plans to leave Liverpool and join Real Madrid on a five-year contract. However, the English defender's contract with the Merseyside club will not officially expire until after June 30. The earliest he can arrive at the Bernabeu is July 1.
However, this summer, Real will take part in the expanded edition of the FIFA Club World Cup, which is being held for the first time. The tournament starts on June 14 and Real will play their opening group match against Al Hilal on June 18. They will also play two other matches on June 22 and 26 against Pachuca and RB Salzburg.
As the most successful team in Europe with 15 C1/Champions League titles, and also the team holding the record of 5 times winning the old version of the FIFA Club World Cup, Real is very eager to win the title in the US this summer. It should also be added that in the first edition, the FIFA Club World Cup will award a huge prize of up to 94 million pounds to the champion team.
To facilitate the participation of teams, FIFA has also designed two transfer windows this summer. The first window lasts from June 1 to 10, while the second window starts from June 16. Real want to take advantage of the time when the first window opens to own Alexander-Arnold in the context of Dani Carvajal's cruciate ligament injury. Therefore, they have approached Liverpool to discuss an early transfer.
For the Port City team, a small transfer fee is still better than nothing. According to the Telegraph, Real have offered a fee of between £500,000 and £850,000. The two clubs will have discussions before reaching an agreement, both on the fee and who will pay the 26-year-old defender's final weeks of wages.
