Today's vineyard is diligently cultivated by Mr. Huynh Van Hoa (Xom Co hamlet, Tan Ninh commune, Tan Thanh district).
In Xom Co hamlet, Nhon Ninh commune, Tan Thanh district, it is normal for people to own a plot of land, but Mr. Hoa's family has less. Therefore, he constantly works and produces to create his own property. After being discharged from the army, his father gave him some land, he rolled up his sleeves to clear the garden to grow jackfruit. The income from jackfruit trees is enough for family expenses, and he keeps the profit from rice for future investment.
After saving for a few years and having capital, he invested in agricultural services such as plows and mowers to serve the people in the area. Not stopping there, realizing that the bird's nest market had potential, he researched and successfully applied the farming method. Up to now, the income from two bird's nest houses has brought his family a full and prosperous life.
Despite certain successes, Mr. Hoa did not rest on his laurels. Mr. Hoa shared: “I realized that the old mindset of farmers is only familiar with one source of income from rice, which is very precarious, especially when rice prices are unstable or there is a crop failure. Therefore, I experimented with many models. Thanks to that, I have the initiative and am not too dependent on the market.”
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, he was less worried because his family had a vegetable garden and a fish pond, which could provide for themselves. Not only that, this was an opportunity for him to create the most unique vineyard model in the district.
Seeing that the large yard in front of his house was still empty, Mr. Hoa bought 400 grapevines to try planting. At first, he only intended to plant them for fun, to shade the yard from the sun, but with his inherent diligence and hard work, he constantly researched and learned to make the grapevines "stick to the ground".
Making a unique model, gossip is inevitable. However, he is still persistent and determined to do it. The result of that enthusiasm is a cool, green vineyard of over 1,000m2 with 500 fruit-bearing trees. Looking at the results he created, he thought it was necessary to spread them to the community, both to increase income and to open a new model. Thus, Ngoc Chau eco- tourism site was born.
Tourists enjoy taking photos in the vineyard
Westerners have a characteristic that whenever they experience something good, they will introduce it to many others. Therefore, Mr. Hoa does not need to advertise loudly to receive the attention of many people in the area. Coming here, visitors can immerse themselves in the cool green space of the vineyard, enjoy the juicy, sweet, crunchy grapes grown right on their homeland, by the diligent hands of good farmers.
Mr. Hoa confided: “Every morning when I wake up, open the door and see the vineyard, I am happy and inspired to start a new day. Seeing people happily taking pictures and enjoying the sweet fruit, I am also happy and proud because my efforts have been rewarded.” In the near future, when the durian bears fruit and the rambutan branches are red, Mr. Hoa will expand the tourist site. At that time, visitors can row a boat, reach out to pick fruit or stroll along the road with the scent of ripe jackfruit, reach out to fish and enjoy a moment of peace. Homegrown dishes are also ready to serve.
Although busy with trees and gardens, Mr. Hoa is still enthusiastic in local activities and the Farmers' Association. He is currently the Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell of Xom Co Hamlet.
Commenting on him, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nhon Ninh Commune - Ngo Thanh Cua said: "The movement of good farmers in production and business is one of the key movements of the Farmers' Association. As a hard-working and creative farmer, Mr. Huynh Van Hoa constantly researches, learns, and succeeds with grapevines on the alum soil of Tan Thanh and develops it into a family garden eco-tourism destination. With his achievements, he was recognized as a good farmer at the provincial level."
At the age of gray hair, for Mr. Huynh Van Hoa, the core of life now is the joy of farming, helping, sharing knowledge and experience so that many people can be successful like him. Cutting a bunch of pennywort in the garden, blending a glass of cool water, sitting quietly under the shade of green grapes watching the swallows flying back to their nests, we feel the change on this land, where hard-working hands are building a new life./.
