(Dan Tri) - Rising river water caused many roads in Thieu Khanh and Thieu Duong wards ( Thanh Hoa city, Thanh Hoa province) to be deeply flooded, forcing people to use boats to move around.
Mr. Le Van Mao, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thieu Duong Ward, Thanh Hoa City, said that on the morning of September 23, heavy rain and rising water levels of Chu River and Ma River caused many roads in the ward to be heavily flooded, with some areas being nearly 2 meters deep. To ensure the safety of the people, the locality proactively evacuated more than 60 people to relatives' houses in the inner dike area to take shelter. About 700 people were evacuated on the spot by the authorities to a safe place," said Mr. Mao. The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of the ward will continue to monitor and proactively deploy tasks according to the proposed plan. It was recorded that, in Giang Thanh street, many households had water entering their houses. On September 23, local authorities and functional forces evacuated 25 households/81 people to safety.
