Nguyen Van Bo Street - A place to mark and fuel tradition

In Nhon Thanh Trung commune, Tan An city, Long An province, there is a road about 1km long, connecting Nguyen Van Nham street with Provincial Road 833, with flowers blooming on both sides and street lights shining every night. That is Nguyen Van Bo street - the street named after a loyal son of Nhon Thanh Trung hometown. Although decades have passed since his death, generations of local youth still look at themselves in his example and continue the journey to build their homeland, cultivating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source".

The loyal martyr

Born in 1925 in Nhon Thanh Trung commune (Tan An city), Nguyen Van Bo (his comrades still called him "Bo Theo") soon embarked on the revolutionary path . When he was transferred from the security force of Tan Tru district to take charge of the Security Department of his commune, he quickly built a grassroots network and sought the protection of the people.

Under the command of Nguyen Van Bo, the suppression of hamlet owners, protection of propaganda cadres, creation of conditions for the people to rise up and fight politically against the enemy to demand democracy, demand for general elections to unify the country,... continuously broke out.

In the early morning of July 14, 1962, the enemy suddenly attacked the bunker where Nguyen Van Bo and his comrades were hiding at the border of Nhon Thanh Trung and Que My Thanh communes (Tan Tru district). The enemy was numerous and had strong firepower, but he and his six comrades still fought back steadfastly for many hours.

Seven loyal soldiers fought until the last bullet, determined not to surrender. They sacrificed themselves. The blood of the martyrs added to the heroic history of Tan An in particular and contributed to creating Long An "Loyal and resilient, the whole people fight the enemy".

Because of the martyr's bravery, Nguyen Van Bo Street today is not only a vital traffic route but also a "red address" reminding future generations of the value of peace and independence.

Traditional Fire

Continuing the tradition of their fathers and brothers, the Youth Union members and youth of Nhon Thanh Trung commune promote the spirit of volunteerism and joining hands to build their hometown. Secretary of the Youth Union of Nhon Thanh Trung commune - Le Thi Huynh Nhu said: "We identify the work of gratitude and traditional education as the top responsibility of the youth. Many activities and movements of the Youth Union are aimed at taking care of people with meritorious services, fostering patriotism for the Youth Union members and young pioneers in the commune."

The commune's Youth Union regularly coordinates with school principals to organize propaganda for students about the meaning of major holidays of the year, take them to visit the provincial Martyrs' Cemetery, visit, clean, and plant flowers in the yard of the stele with the names of the commune's martyrs,...

The model of Filial Children continues to be maintained and implemented by the Commune Youth Union. Every year, the Youth Union members and youth of Nhon Thanh Trung Commune regularly visit and give gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Vo Thi Xe.

Implementing the model of Wings of Dreams, the Commune Youth Union mobilized businesses and philanthropists to donate books and bicycles to students in difficult circumstances. At the same time, the Piggy Bank model to raise social security funds also contributes to supporting poor students to overcome difficulties, lonely elderly people and families in especially difficult circumstances.

In addition, the piggy bank fund is also used to organize volunteer programs, give Tet gifts, and health insurance cards to families in difficult circumstances .
