Duy Xuyen celebrates 80th anniversary of district armed forces tradition day

At the meeting, Mr. Cao Thanh Hai - Secretary of Duy Xuyen District Party Committee presented a speech reviewing the 80-year journey of building, fighting and growing of the district's armed forces, including the militia and self-defense force.

Accordingly, from the initial self-defense teams, the Duy Xuyen armed forces quickly developed into main force units, achieving resounding victories in the resistance war against the French. Typical examples include destroying Thu Bon post (August 1949), destroying reinforcements on Highway 104, killing and capturing more than 400 enemies, destroying 30 military vehicles of various types, destroying Cay Ban watchtower, and capturing Non Truoc and Cau Chim posts.

During more than 20 years of resistance against the US, the people and armed forces of Duy Xuyen district overcame countless hardships and sacrifices with the spirit of "Rather sacrifice everything than lose the country, never become slaves", contributing with the whole country to successfully complete the cause of national liberation and reunification on April 30, 1975.

With its achievements, Duy Xuyen district armed forces were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State twice; awarded 3 First-class Military Exploit Medals, 17 First-class, Second-class and Third-class Military Exploit Medals and 28 Military Exploit Medals to communes and towns...

Up to now, Duy Xuyen has a total of 20 collectives and 26 individuals awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.
