Breeding goby fish, saving costs

The snakehead fish (striped snakehead fish) adapts well to farming conditions in the freshwater area of Tran Van Thoi district, bringing in quite a lot of economic value, so the snakehead fish farming model has been interested by farmers and widely developed. In recent years, snakehead fish farmers in the district have forced their own fry from parent fish of local origin, creating fry that are easy to adapt to local environmental conditions, helping farmers reduce input costs and increase crop productivity.

According to the experience of farmers, during the fish harvest season, farmers will select healthy female and male goby fish, disinfect them with salt water (3-5%), potassium permanganate (15-20 ppm) to eliminate pathogens. After the breeding period, they will inject hormones into the female goby fish that are carrying eggs. This technique helps to achieve a high rate of egg reproduction. Within about 1-1.5 months, goby fish fry will be formed, selected to be raised in home ponds or sold as fry. This method helps to save about 20% of production costs.

Young goby fish are often kept in nets, fed, and when they are healthy, released into ponds, lagoons or fields.

The parent goby fish are kept in a tarpaulin pond and raised to be healthy.

Female goby fish (usually already fertilized) and healthy male fish are selected for breeding.
