This is considered a repair project with high technical and technological complexity. The pressure on progress is also very large because the re-operation of this generator is of great importance and will contribute to ensuring electricity supply in the Northern region.
To meet the above requirements and minimize technical risks, EPS engineers discussed with GE experts to implement the project in two phases.
Because the rotors of the high-pressure, medium-pressure, low-pressure turbines and generators of the S6 unit had previously been repaired and restored in India, the preparation phase before bringing the rotors to the construction site had to be urgently implemented and safety conditions had to be ensured. EPS had assessed the actual condition of the entire equipment system of the unit and carried out appropriate inspection, repair, and calibration; checked the condition of specialized machinery and equipment to prepare a plan for replacement or restoration of materials and equipment... to promptly recommend to the managing unit.
During this phase, EPS engineers and experts discovered and resolved many issues such as: repairing cracked, material-lost high-pressure and low-pressure turbine static wheel stages; re-processing the generator side bearing shim to ensure installation dimensions; processing additional heaters and cranes to remove/install bearings... It can be said that these are very important tasks, determining the success of the next phase.
EPS Company is focusing on construction at repair projects with high technical and technological complexity.
The decisive factor in phase 2 (rotor installation and operational testing) is the quality control and assessment of all items, from checking and assessing the equipment status, handling any abnormalities that arise; installing and adjusting the generator turbine rotors and turbine casings, balancing the rotor center; calibrating and testing measuring and control equipment... the work must strictly comply with the standards of the manufacturer and the investor.
On September 4, 2023, the unit was successfully tested and accepted, the operating parameters, vibration, bearing temperature, etc. all met the standards. By September 8, 2023, the unit had reached the rated capacity according to the design of 300MW. The project was completed with quality and on schedule, bringing the unit back to safe and efficient operation.
It can be said that the success of the S6 unit repair project - Pha Lai Thermal Power Plant is a remarkable achievement of EPS Company in 2023. With the spirit of not being afraid of difficulties along with the outstanding efforts of the team of experts and engineers, EPS has proven the quality of workmanship, the company's brand reputation and commitment to customers according to the motto "sincere sharing, dedicated service".
