In particular, EVN has ensured safe power supply and proactively responded to storm No. 3 (SAOLA), tropical depression and floods in some localities in the North and Central regions, and synchronously deployed to ensure power supply in October 2023.

Specifically, the total electricity output of the system in September 2023 reached 23.5 billion kWh (average 784.9 million kWh/day), up 6.7% over the same period in 2022; the highest daily output reached 869.9 million kWh and the highest capacity reached 42,054 MW (September 22).

“In the first 9 months, the total system output reached 209.9 billion kWh, up 3.1% over the same period last year, of which the mobilization rate of hydropower reached 58.05 billion kWh, accounting for 27.7%; coal-fired thermal power reached 97.2 billion kWh, accounting for 46.3%; gas turbines reached 20.82 billion kWh, accounting for 9.9%; oil-fired thermal power reached 1.23 billion kWh, accounting for 0.6%; renewable energy reached 29.13 billion kWh, accounting for 13.9%, of which solar power reached 20.45 billion kWh, wind power reached 8.01 billion kWh; imported electricity reached 3.1 billion kWh, accounting for 1.5%,” EVN said.

In the first 9 months of 2023, electricity production of EVN and Power Generation Corporations reached 87.79 billion kWh, accounting for 41.83% of the total electricity production of the entire system.

Regarding construction investment, in the first 9 months of 2023, EVN and its units started 50 projects and completed energizing and putting into operation 60 power grid projects from 110 kV to 500 kV, including: 01 500 kV project, 09 220 kV projects and 50 110 kV projects, of which phase 1 of the 220 kV Doc Soi - Quang Ngai line 2 circuit suspension project was energized; energized the Yen Binh 8 110kV line and transformer station, Thai Nguyen province; energized the Dong Soc 110kV line and transformer station; energized the T3 transformer installation project at the Minh Hai 110kV transformer station, Hung Yen province...

Regarding the implementation of procedures for transitional renewable energy projects, as of September 29, 2023, 81/85 transitional renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 4,597.86 MW have submitted documents to the Electricity Trading Company to negotiate electricity prices and power purchase contracts; of which 68 projects (total capacity of 3,897.41 MW) have proposed a temporary price equal to 50% of the ceiling price of the price frame (according to Decision No. 21/QD-BCT dated January 7, 2023 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade ).

EVN and investors have completed price negotiations and initialed PPA contracts for 62/68 projects; the Ministry of Industry and Trade has approved provisional prices for 60 projects with a total capacity of 3,331.41 MW; 20 factories/parts of factories with a total capacity of 1,171.72 MW have completed the procedures for recognizing the commercial operation date (COD), and are allowed to generate commercial electricity to the grid.

“Of these, 23 projects have been accepted by competent State management agencies for the construction/part of the construction; 29 projects have been granted electricity operation licenses for the entire plant/part of the plant; 39 projects have had decisions to extend investment policies.

There are still 4 projects with a total capacity of 136.70 MW that have not yet submitted negotiation documents. The cumulative power output of transitional renewable energy projects from COD to September 21, 2023 reached more than 625 million kWh,” EVN said.

Regarding the tasks in October 2023, EVN assessed that according to the weather trend of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in October 2023, the average temperature across the country will generally be 0.5 - 1.00C higher than the average of many years.

In October 2023, the average daily electricity consumption of the entire system is expected to be 754.4 million kWh/day, an increase of 7.22% over the same period in 2022. The electricity supply situation in October is expected to continue to be guaranteed.

To ensure the needs of consumers, EVN ensures stable, safe and reliable operation of the power system. Continue to mobilize thermal power plants; hydropower plants operate according to actual hydrological conditions and optimal regulation orientation, aiming to store water to normal water level by the end of the year.

EVN also focuses on natural disaster and storm and flood prevention at construction sites, while continuing to accelerate the construction progress of power source projects: Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant; Ialy Hydropower Expansion Plant, Hoa Binh Expansion Plant; urgently completing capital arrangement procedures for Tri An Hydropower Expansion Project; promptly completing appraisal to approve the technical design of phase 2 of Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Project.

Regarding power grid projects: Complete phase 1 energization (220 kV distribution yard) of Lao Cai 500 kV transformer station; energize and operate Nha Trang - Thap Cham 220 kV line (phase 2), Hai Duong - Pho Noi Thermal Power Plant. Continue to direct and urge the progress of investment preparation, construction progress of key power grid projects such as: 500 kV line circuit 3; projects to release hydropower, thermal power, release renewable energy sources; speed up the survey progress and prepare the feasibility report (FS) of the project to supply electricity from the national grid to Con Dao district...

In October 2023, it is forecasted that there will be 1-2 storms and tropical depressions in the East Sea, which may affect the mainland of our country; moderate and heavy rains may still occur in the Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions. EVN continues to direct hydropower companies/plants to operate reservoirs and dams in accordance with the direction of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the steering committees of provinces/cities.

Power Corporations/Companies prepare adequate human resources and means, increase 24/7 on-call duty; proactively respond to natural disasters during the rainy and stormy season, ensure safety for people, equipment, electrical works and ensure safety of dams, hydroelectric plants, and downstream areas of reservoirs.
