On June 14, EVN issued a press release clarifying information in some media outlets about "a lack of 1 million tons of coal for thermal power", to avoid public misunderstanding about the responsibility of coal suppliers.
EVN affirms that thermal power plants still have enough coal to produce electricity.
According to EVN, in the first months of this year, the effective coordination and efforts to supply coal between TKV and Dong Bac Corporation has made an important contribution to this group's production and supply of electricity for economic development and serving people's lives.
In particular, since the meeting on May 9 between EVN, TKV and Dong Bac Corporation, all generators using anthracite coal have been operating at maximum capacity according to system requirements, no generator has stopped or reduced capacity due to lack of coal.
According to the updated plan, the mobilized output in June and July of coal-fired thermal power plants, especially power plants in the Northern region, will be mobilized at maximum capacity and output.
Specifically, the total expected output of EVN's anthracite coal-fired power plants in June and July is 12.33 billion kWh, corresponding to the coal demand of 6.03 million tons.
In early June, EVN held a working session with TKV and Dong Bac Corporation to propose these two units. Provide additional 1 million tons of coal beyond the signed contract volume to ensure enough coal for electricity production needs in June and July.
In the announcement, EVN affirmed that the group is actively coordinating with TKV and Dong Bac Corporation to find solutions to provide enough coal for electricity production in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister .
