Facebook recently launched a long-term program aimed at improving its News Feed and giving talented creators a chance to break through, starting with efforts to reduce spam.
In the first half of 2025 alone, Facebook said it had taken action against about 500,000 accounts that were engaging in spam or fake engagement, and implemented measures such as limiting comments, reducing content distribution, and preventing these spam accounts from generating revenue. The platform also removed about 10 million accounts impersonating major content producers.
However, the problem of spam content, from videos , images to posts, still appears frequently. This not only affects the user experience but also hinders content creators.
Spam content is unoriginal content that is copied or reused multiple times without citing the source, asking for permission, or editing the content clearly and appropriately.
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, said it fully supports sharing content or making reaction videos when there is a personal creative element. However, Meta will strictly handle cases of simply reposting other people's content for profit.
Meta will reduce distribution for all content from accounts that repeatedly reuse other people's content without permission, and will suspend their ability to monetize. For videos that are found to be duplicates, Facebook will prioritize distribution of the original and reduce exposure to copies. Meta is also testing a feature that links viewers back to the original content, to ensure creators' rights.

Meta also encourages creators to follow a few guidelines to make their content more accessible to viewers, such as:
- Create original content: Self-shot, self-produced content always has a higher distribution advantage. Creators can share the same content on their social media accounts.
- Add a clear creative element: If you use content from another source, edit or add commentary or dialogue to create new value for viewers. Simple edits like splicing videos or adding a watermark will not be considered meaningful editing.
- Tell a story with depth: Content that has a message or tells a true story is more likely to engage viewers. Whether your content is short or long, you can share it on Facebook, but avoid videos that are too short and don't provide value to viewers.
- Avoid adding watermarks or reposting from other apps.
- Write quality captions: Avoid all caps, insert links and only use a maximum of 5 hashtags.
Facebook will roll out these updates over time to ensure creators on the platform are familiar with the change.

Meta is also introducing post-level insights on the Professional Dashboard, which helps creators understand why content is being restricted. Additionally, creators can track their account’s distribution and monetization status in the Support section of their Page or professional profile.
Meta representative emphasized: "Meta aims to build Facebook into a platform where unique content is honored and creators receive the recognition they deserve. In the coming time, Meta will continue to update more tools and policies to protect and support the content creation community."
