The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced this morning the format and seeding for the teams participating in the 2026 U17 World Cup. This is an important preparatory step before the draw for the group stage, which will take place at 8 PM on May 21st.
However, a notable error appeared in the initial list of 48 participating teams. The Vietnam U17 and China U17 teams were not included, while these two positions were replaced by Yemen U17 and Indonesia U17 teams.

According to the seed list, Yemen U17 is placed in seed group 4, while Indonesia U17 is in group 2.
The confusion with Vietnam U17 is even more apparent because Yemen U17 is the team that lost to Vietnam U17 in Group C. Similarly, China U17 is being confused with Indonesia U17, their opponent in Group B of the 2026 AFC U17 Championship.
Immediately afterwards, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) contacted FIFA to request an investigation and correction of the errors related to the Vietnam U17 team.
Just a few hours after the VFF's feedback, the FIFA website updated the list of the four seeded groups. The new list shows that the Vietnam U17 team is back in its correct position in group 4, replacing the Yemen U17 team.
China's U17 team has also been included back on the list, replacing Indonesia's U17 team, but has been moved to group 4 instead of group 2 as in the previous list.

The timely correction from FIFA has officially secured Cristiano Roland's team a place in the draw for the 2026 U17 World Cup.
This is a special milestone for Vietnamese youth football as the U17 team participates in the U17 World Cup for the first time.
