Nearly 230,000 visitors came to Lao Cai on the occasion of National Day holiday September 2

During this year's National Day holiday, Lao Cai welcomed about 227,898 visitors, an increase of 16% compared to the same period in 2024 (196,500 visitors). This figure shows the recovery and stable development of the local tourism industry after the merger.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province and other localities organized many special cultural, sports and tourism programs. This is also one of the factors that contributed to attracting a large number of tourists to Lao Cai during the holiday.

Red flags decorate key tourist areas of the province.

Major tourist destinations such as Sa Pa, Bac Ha, Mu Cang Chai and Suoi Giang all recorded a large number of visitors. Sa Pa took the lead with 109,490 arrivals (6,932 international visitors and 102,558 domestic visitors), with a room occupancy rate of 95%. Here, visitors participated in many activities to explore nature and experience local culture.

Bac Ha is expected to welcome about 12,000 visitors, with room occupancy reaching 90%. Tourists mainly come to visit specialty markets and learn about ethnic cultures.

Mu Cang Chai and Tu Le also attracted nearly 20,000 visitors, with room occupancy reaching about 75%.

The total number of tourists to Lao Cai during the holiday increased by 16% compared to the same period in 2024.

According to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, total revenue from tourists during the 4-day holiday reached about 702 billion VND; of which international visitors contributed about 41 billion VND, domestic visitors about 661 billion VND. The occupancy rate of accommodation rooms in the whole province is estimated at over 62%. Particularly, Sa Pa National Tourist Area reached an occupancy rate of about 98% for the 3-star segment and above; the mid-range segment was about 82%, and homestay facilities reached about 85%.

This result was achieved thanks to the timely direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the coordination of local authorities and the Tourism Association. Accommodation establishments and tourist attractions proactively decorated to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day, strictly implemented regulations on welcoming guests and strictly complied with the provisions of the law.

Food service ensures food safety and hygiene, no cases of poisoning, price increases or price gouging occur. Tourist attractions also proactively clean up and maintain a clean and beautiful environment to serve tourists.

Security and order were well maintained, with no complaints sent to the hotline during the holiday. However, traffic congestion still occurred in the center of Sa Pa National Tourist Area, making it difficult to move around.
