On September 23, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue arrived in Sofia, beginning an official visit to the Republic of Bulgaria.
This is the first visit by the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly to Bulgaria after 15 years, since the visit of Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong in 2008, aiming to consolidate and further strengthen the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria in general; parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in particular, promoting bilateral cooperation in all fields.
With the above meaning as well as the planned schedule of activities during this important visit, it can be seen that the visit will contribute to further deepening the friendship between the people of the two countries, further strengthening the relationship of more than 70 years between Vietnam and Bulgaria.

Although Bulgaria is a geographically distant European country, it has a close and close relationship with Vietnam. The two countries have a traditional relationship of friendship and cooperation. Bulgaria was one of the first 10 countries in the world to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam since February 8, 1950.
President Ho Chi Minh's official friendship visit to Bulgaria in August 1957 laid the foundation and marked an important milestone in the history of relations between the two countries.
Over the past 70 years, the Governments and peoples of the two countries have continuously cultivated traditional friendship in the fields of politics, diplomacy, culture, science, education, national security and defense...
In the spirit of understanding and friendship, the leaders of the two countries regularly maintain comprehensive dialogues and take concrete steps to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Today, political dialogue has been expanded to multi-dimensional sectoral cooperation. Vietnam is Bulgaria’s priority partner in Southeast Asia. Bilateral trade has been steadily increasing but has not yet reached its full potential. In recent years, there has been a positive trend towards increasing bilateral trade in higher value-added goods such as machinery, equipment, medical instruments and pharmaceuticals. There is also a focus on promoting comprehensive people-to-people relations across the fields of education, tourism, culture, business relations and labour mobility.
Vietnam's membership in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Bulgaria's membership in the European Union (EU), two important economic and political institutions in the world, have brought further added value to Vietnam-Bulgaria bilateral cooperation.
The dynamic development of Vietnam-EU cooperation with the Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) has created greater potential for business-to-business and people-to-people exchanges, based on the common political priorities of the two countries.
The official visit to Bulgaria by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue will contribute to deepening the traditional friendship and enhancing bilateral cooperation, creating more cooperation opportunities for businesses of the two countries in the coming time.
Through the visit, Vietnam's determination to strengthen cooperation was once again affirmed, opening a new and brighter chapter in the journey of developing relations with Bulgaria.
