Labeling the Institute of Nutrition to advertise Milo milk: Ministry of Health requests verification

In recent days, information about Milo milk labeled as Clinical Trial Nutrition Institute to advertise Nestlé Milo products has caused a stir in public opinion. The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) requested to check and verify the information.

The Department of Food Safety, Ministry of Health has just sent an official dispatch requesting the Dong Nai Department of Health to inspect, verify information, and handle advertisements containing clinical trial reports of Nestlé Milo products according to current regulations.

At the same time, the Department also requested the National Institute of Nutrition to urgently inspect and review the communication and advertising content of these products to ensure compliance with the provisions of Clause 2, Article 27 of Decree 15 and implement Directive 17/CT-TTg on strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency of state management and rectifying advertising activities.

Nestlé Milo barley milk product with the "Institute of Nutrition" label is causing controversy.

Previously, as reported by CAND Newspaper, after discovering that the Milo Barley Milk brand, a product of Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited, used the name of the Institute of Nutrition (Ministry of Health) on all advertisements and product packaging of this enterprise.

The National Institute of Nutrition has sent a document to Nestlé Vietnam regarding the "review of the use of scientific research results in communications", which clearly states the request that "The Company inspect and review the communications and advertising content of food products. If there is any information related to the Institute of Nutrition that violates the above regulations, it is requested to immediately remove it to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the law in communications and advertising activities as well as disseminating nutritional knowledge to the community.

Afterwards, Nestlé Vietnam also responded in writing to the Institute of Nutrition, in which it committed to "immediately reviewing ongoing advertising activities and reminding partners to ensure compliance with current legal regulations".

According to Dr. Pham Hong Truong, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Nutrition, the use of advertising clips for the supplementary food product "Nestlé Milo Barley Milk" is the responsibility of Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited and the competent management agency according to the provisions of law. Currently, the National Institute of Nutrition continues to send documents to Nestlé Vietnam, requesting a report explaining the implementation progress, reviewing communication and advertising activities related to the Institute of Nutrition.
