Meeting to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Provincial Association of the Elderly

After 20 years of development, with different forms of organization and names, with the attention and leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, the coordination of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, departments, branches, and organizations of the province, the direction and guidance of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, the Provincial Association of the Elderly has overcome many difficulties and challenges, strived to fulfill its assigned tasks, and contributed worthily to the cause of construction and development of the province.

Meeting scene.

Up to now, 100% of districts, cities, communes, wards, towns, villages, hamlets and neighborhoods in the province have organized associations, and annually recruited over 1,600 elderly people into the association, bringing the total number of members in the province to nearly 38,500 by 2024. Activities to care for, support and promote the role of the elderly have been implemented synchronously, achieving many practical results. The number of elderly people aged 80 and over without salary receiving monthly allowances is 4,261 people; the number of poor people aged 60-80 with difficult circumstances receiving monthly social allowances is 7,300 people; over 25,000 people receive annual health check-ups, 29,354 elderly people have health monitoring books, 36,120 elderly people have health insurance cards, accounting for 94%.

In the period of 2021-2025, the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" in the province has achieved many outstanding results, with many positive contributions in all areas of social life. The whole province has 275 types of clubs attracting nearly 5,344 elderly people to participate. The work of promoting the role of the elderly has been directed with attention. Up to now, the whole province has 327 elderly people participating in Party work, 365 elderly people participating in government work, 517 elderly people participating in the work of the Front and political organizations at the grassroots level, 1,190 elderly people have been recognized as good economic performers at all levels...

The discussion at the meeting focused on the following contents: experience in organizing the emulation movement "Old age - bright example"; 20 years of building and growing; improving the quality of activities of the Association of the Elderly at all levels...

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Tong Thanh Hai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Elderly Affairs Committee praised and acknowledged the great contributions of the Elderly Association at all levels and all members. To continue promoting the role of the elderly and improving the effectiveness of the association's activities in the coming time, he suggested that Party committees, authorities and the Elderly Association continue to thoroughly disseminate the Party and State's guidelines and policies on the elderly, in order to raise awareness of the whole society about the role, position and great potential of the elderly. Focus on protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly; focus on handling and promptly resolving issues arising related to the lives of the elderly. At the same time, coordinate with functional agencies to deploy the arrangement of the Elderly Association after merging communes, wards and towns; continue to promote the patriotic emulation movement "Old age - bright example" ...

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 7 individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement "Bright Age", period 2021-2025. The Provincial Association of the Elderly awarded Certificates of Merit to 20 individuals who have made many contributions to the process of construction and development on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Establishment of the Provincial Association of the Elderly.
