Rush to harvest summer-autumn rice before storm No. 10 makes landfall

QTO- According to information from the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, farmers across the province are rushing to the fields to harvest the remaining summer-autumn rice fields to minimize damage.

Accordingly, in the 2025 summer-autumn crop, the whole province planted over 38,755 hectares of rice. As of 5:00 p.m. on September 27, 2025, the whole province had harvested 37,655 hectares, the unharvested area was 1,100 hectares. Of which, the plain area was about 200 hectares, concentrated in the communes of Quang Ninh , Ninh Chau, Hieu Giang, Trieu Phong... and the mountainous area was 900 hectares concentrated in the communes of Huong Hoa and old Dakrong districts.

Head of the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection Bui Phuoc Trang said: Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has directed localities to mobilize human resources and means to harvest both day and night according to the motto "green house is better than ripe field", rice must be harvested when over 80% ripe to limit damage caused by storm No. 10. In addition to rice, the unit also guides farmers to harvest early short-term crops such as corn, cassava, potatoes, peanuts, vegetables and beans of all kinds... at the same time, prune branches, reinforce fruit trees and perennial forestry trees to limit damage.
