Corn prices are high, growers are excited

(HG) - Recently, corn growers in the province are excited because corn prices are high. The price of waxy corn sold by farmers to traders is 2,400 VND/type 2 corn, and the price of type 2 corn is 2 corns into 1 (each corn costs 1,200 VND). Cooked waxy corn is sold retail at the market at 4,000-6,000 VND/corn. The retail price of American corn in many markets is 7,000-9,000 VND/corn. According to growers, each hectare of corn can grow more than 4,000 plants, each plant the farmer leaves 1 corn, after more than 2 months of planting, after deducting all costs, the growers still have a profit of over 4 million VND/hectare.

Due to heavy rain, supply is reduced so the price of corn is high .

As of August 2023, the corn planting area in the province was 2,079 hectares, an increase of 26.1 hectares over the same period last year; the output was 11,300 tons, a decrease of 104.05 tons over the same period last year.
