According to Barchart , a weaker dollar has boosted arabica short positions, while weather concerns in Vietnam have supported robusta prices. Heavy rains have slowed harvest progress in Dak Lak , Vietnam’s largest coffee growing province, and forecasts suggest further rains could damage the crop.
Coffee prices fell sharply on Wednesday on the prospect of rain in Brazil, which could benefit coffee plants and put downward pressure on prices. Climatempo forecast heavy rains over the weekend and into next week in Brazil's coffee-growing regions.
Coffee prices also found support from a report Monday from Somar Meteorologia that Brazil's largest arabica growing region, Minas Gerais, received 19.8 mm of rain in the week ended November 14, equivalent to 42% of the historical average.
Coffee prices were further supported after Brazil's crop forecasting agency Conab on September 4 cut its estimate of Brazil's 2025 arabica output by 4.9% to 35.2 million bags, down from its forecast of 37 million bags in May. Conab also lowered its forecast of Brazil's total 2025 coffee output to 55.2 million bags, down from 55.7 million bags announced in May.
