* The live pig market in the North decreased by 3,000 - 4,000 VND/kg last week.
Accordingly, after a decrease of 3,000 VND/kg, live pigs in Bac Giang , Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Phu Tho, Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc and Ninh Binh are being purchased for around 51,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.
Traders in the remaining provinces and cities are trading at the same price of 52,000 VND/kg, down 4,000 VND/kg.
Today's live pig price in the North is around 51,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.
* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions have decreased across the board.
Specifically, the price of live pigs in Lam Dong and Binh Thuan both decreased by 1,000 VND/kg to a common level of 53,000 VND/kg.
The provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak decreased by VND3,000/kg to VND51,000 - 53,000/kg.
52,000 - 53,000 VND/kg is the price range recorded in the remaining provinces after decreasing by 2,000 VND/kg compared to last weekend.
Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 51,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.
* In the Southern region, pig prices also decreased following the general trend last week.
Currently, traders in Dong Nai, Vung Tau, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu and Soc Trang are purchasing live pigs at around 52,000 - 53,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg.
Except for Tra Vinh, the remaining provinces and cities decreased by 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg, currently trading in the range of 50,000 - 54,000 VND/kg.
The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 50,000 - 54,000 VND/kg.
* The decline has not shown any signs of stopping, partly due to the impact of the epidemic in some places, so farmers are taking advantage of selling their livestock early to avoid the epidemic, resulting in abundant supply.
In addition, farmers initially kept pigs waiting for prices, but the price has been falling for more than a month now, forcing them to sell their pigs, causing the meat output supplied to the market based on the number of pigs also to increase.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam's meat and meat product exports continued to increase in August 2023, reaching 1.92 thousand tons, worth 10.16 million USD, up 38.1% in volume and 22% in value compared to August 2022.
In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam exported 14.17 thousand tons of meat and meat products, worth 67.67 million USD, up 22.8% in volume and 34.9% in value over the same period in 2022.
In the first 8 months of 2023, fresh chilled or frozen pork (mainly suckling pigs and frozen whole pigs) was exported the most with 6.89 thousand tons, worth 40.28 million USD, down 0.7% in volume, but up 30% in value compared to the same period in 2022.
On the other hand, in August 2023, Vietnam imported 62.53 thousand tons of meat and meat products, worth 128.72 million USD, up 3.6% in volume, but down 0.7% in value compared to August 2022.
In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam imported 418,93 thousand tons of meat and meat products, worth 851.76 million USD, up 1.9% in volume, but down 7.3% in value compared to the same period in 2022.
