Pig prices in the Northern region did not record any new fluctuations compared to the previous day, currently the common purchase price is from 62,000 VND/kg to 65,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, localities such as Tuyen Quang, Bac Ninh, Hanoi , Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen and Hung Yen continue to maintain the highest price in the region at 65,000 VND/kg. Provinces such as Ninh Binh and Phu Tho trade at 64,000 VND/kg. Quang Ninh and Lao Cai are currently purchasing live pigs at 63,000 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, pork prices in Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Cao Bang and Lang Son remained stable at 62,000 VND/kg.

Pig price today in the South remains unchanged
In the South, the price of live pigs today continued to remain unchanged compared to last weekend, ranging from 62,000 VND/kg to 64,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, Tay Ninh and Dong Nai are still the two leading localities in the region with 64,000 VND/kg. Next, Ho Chi Minh City, Ca Mau, Vinh Long, Can Tho and Dong Thap all purchased live pigs at 63,000 VND/kg. Only An Giang maintained the lowest price in the region at 62,000 VND/kg.

Tuyen Quang strengthens control of African swine fever
According to the Agriculture and Environment newspaper, as of August 3, the entire Tuyen Quang province had nearly 32,000 pigs/2,748 households/807 villages with African swine fever, accounting for 75% of the communes and wards with the epidemic.
On August 4, a working delegation from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, worked with Tuyen Quang province to inspect, guide and urge the prevention and control of African swine fever, which is developing complicatedly in the locality.
The disease began to break out in Tuyen Quang on July 5, with sporadic outbreaks in some communes and wards. However, after nearly a month, by August 3, the whole province had recorded 96/124 communes and wards (accounting for 75% of the total number of communes and wards) with pigs infected with African swine fever.
The total number of pigs that had to be culled was about 32,000 in 2,700 households in 807 villages, with a total destroyed volume of nearly 1,800 tons. The rate of infected pigs that were culled was estimated at about 2-3% of the total pig herd in the province. Currently, Tuyen Quang is one of the three localities with the greatest losses in the country due to the epidemic, along with Phu Tho and Cao Bang.
In My Lam ward, there are 3,015 households raising pigs with a total herd of more than 13,400 pigs. The epidemic has also appeared in 22 residential groups, causing 663 pigs of 73 households to be infected and forced to be destroyed. As soon as the outbreak was detected, the People's Committee of My Lam ward coordinated with the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries to thoroughly destroy the pigs within 24 hours and implement disinfection and sterilization measures according to regulations.
