The first cable line 100% invested by Vietnamese people
At the opening ceremony, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung congratulated VNPT Group on launching the first international fiber optic cable connecting many ASEAN countries. This is a vivid image of a digital ASEAN.
According to the Minister, Vietnam's telecommunications infrastructure has become digital infrastructure, the infrastructure of the economy , so the safety and sustainability of digital infrastructure is extremely important.
"To be safe and sustainable, we must diversify, have many submarine fiber optic cables, going in many different directions, especially land fiber optic cables, which are very resilient. This is the order of the Party and the State and Vietnam's digital infrastructure is safe and sustainable," said the Minister.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also shared that Vietnam's first international fiber optic cable line is the TDH line, which has been exploited since 1996. This is a cable line in which Vietnam is a participating partner. In the past 30 years, Vietnam has never had an international cable line 100% invested by Vietnamese people.
With the spirit of attack, VNPT Group has deployed VSTN international land optical cable very quickly today. This is the first line 100% invested by Vietnamese people and Vietnamese enterprises.

Strong infrastructure, proactive operation, absolute safety
Mr. To Dung Thai, Chairman of the Board of Members of VNPT Group, emphasized that this event is an important milestone of the national digital infrastructure. This is not only a telecommunications infrastructure project but also a strategic step in the journey of modernizing the country's international connectivity infrastructure.
As a project of special technical and strategic significance, the VSTN cable line has a total length of about 3,900 km, passing through 5 countries: Vietnam - Laos - Thailand - Malaysia - Singapore, built entirely on land and directly connecting from the VNPT technical center in Da Nang to the region's leading international data centers such as: IDC Telehouse (Thailand), MY01 Cyberjaya, Equinix JH01 Johor Bahru (Malaysia), Equinix and Global Switch (Singapore).
VNPT's direct control of the entire route from Vietnam to Singapore, from start to finish, not only ensures independent operational capacity and quick handling of incidents, but in the context of continuous and prolonged submarine cable incidents affecting the quality of Internet services and international connections, VSTN also acts as an important backup route, strategically supplementing existing submarine cable routes, increasing stability, proactiveness and safety for the national telecommunications infrastructure.
VSTN uses modern wavelength-multiplexed DWDM transmission equipment, one of the most advanced technologies today. Each wavelength can transmit a minimum capacity of 300 Gbps, the total design of the entire line is up to 4 Tbps and can be easily upgraded to 12 Tbps or more. This helps VSTN meet current needs and be ready for strong development in the near future.
VSTN is not only a technical step forward but also a strategic step for Vietnam to step out of its passive position, towards completely mastering the national telecommunications infrastructure, protecting data security, ensuring information flow is transmitted smoothly and safely in all situations.

Mastering multimodal international connectivity infrastructure
Mr. Huynh Quang Liem, General Director of VNPT Group, said that VNPT is currently operating four major international submarine cable lines including AAG, APG, AAE-1 and SJC-2 with a total length of over 65,000 km. Of which, SJC-2 is the newest submarine cable line, which has just been completed. VNPT is also the first and only enterprise in Vietnam that currently owns and operates two telecommunications satellites Vinasat-1 and Vinasat-2.
With the VSTN cable line put into operation, VNPT Group is gradually perfecting the multi-modal transmission infrastructure ecosystem: from land, sea, to space. This complete combination not only helps VNPT ensure wide coverage and strong transmission capacity, but also improves the quality and reliability of domestic telecommunications services.
By putting the VSTN cable line into operation, VNPT not only adds a new transmission line, but also affirms that Vietnamese people can completely master the most complex, safe and modern technological infrastructure.
With the VSTN cable line, Vietnam has affirmed its position as a data transit center in the region, contributing to establishing a seamless digital corridor between Indochina and Southeast Asia.
Also at the opening ceremony, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung expressed hope that in the coming time, Vietnamese network operators will continue to invest in building many international fiber optic cable lines invested by Vietnam.
